Today we’d like to introduce you to Francisco Moreno “El Silence”.
Francisco, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born in Dallas and raised both in Mexico and the U.S., with my formative years being in Mexico and my adult life being here in Dallas. I grew up loving foreign & independent films. My obsession with collecting silent Russian films and my love for French cinema started in my early 20’s when I began researching & studying films from all over the world.
These films eventually became some of my biggest influences along with music which is other major inspiration, as I find it to be the motor that makes videos and film work and create emotions. In January 2013 I decided to quit my job as a Customer Service rep and decided to follow my lifelong dream of starting my own video production company with the hopes of gaining the necessary experience to one day direct a major feature film.
My biggest influences are the work of French director: Jean-Pierre Jeunet, along with my idols Alfonso Cuaron & Iñárritu. One of the highlights of my career came when I edited a documentary film for a local community leader which was premiered in December of 2012.
Shortly after, I had the opportunity to film a Fashion show for Project Runway Designer James Martinez. I created this video with my love for fast paced cinema in mind. This work was very successful as it opened doors for me, and allowed me to begin my journey in the local video industry.
And the rest is history!
Last year I got the opportunity to make one of my dreams come true as I got to direct, edit & produce a music video for one of my lifelong musical rock idol from Mexico named Chetes! I have been listening to his music and inspired by it for the past 20 years! Dreams do come true! I am very thankful that I have the opportunity to make a living by doing what I love!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, there have been up’s and down’s, but we all learn from our mistakes and learn to make better decisions from them. Make better contracts and negotiations with bigger clients.
Please tell us about Creative Silence Studios.
I work in anything that requires Video Production. I specialize in online & TV commercials, social media promos, music videos, documentaries, weddings, etc.
I am proud that I have produced a music video for an International Grammy-nominated artist, and that have had the opportunity to work for other local & International celebrities, like Project Runway designer James Martinez, Oscar Fierro, another Grammy-nominated an artist from Colombia: Fonseca, to name a few.
Also got to produce a commercial for a global company based in Europe: KT Group (kioskterminals.eu) Also one of the few local 100% Bilingual video production teams with lots of experience.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Market me more and better. Buy more equipment, it’s better to be over prepared.
