Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Salter.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in to a family of gear heads and I have been a gear head all my life. My Grandfather was Chef Designer at Cessna Aviation for 40 years. My Father was engineering draftsman, He raced and worked on Alfa Romeos in the late 1950’s early 1960’s. He was also very in to the muscle car scene at that time.
When I was thirteen years old I bought a 1982 Chevrolet Citation X11 for $300. It was a project the motor was blown up, it had no tires or rims, I spent the following 3 months completely rebuilding it with my Father. This was my first mechanical project and many others followed after that.
Has it been a smooth road?
I am thankful that what I am passionate about has grown into a successful business. The biggest obstacle is managing multiple projects by myself. It is difficult to find people that have the same skill set and knowledge of rare small engines like I do.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
One stop vintage moped and scooter shop. We specialize in repairs, mechanical restoration, tune ups, engine rebuilds, parts. We sell vintage scooters like Vespa, Lambretta, Puch, Motobecane, and Tomos just to name a few.
When I see vintage scooters and mopeds that I have worked on riding around the city. I also enjoy getting to know the owner and the stories about their scooters.
I take pride in my work and I don’t cut corners. I strive to restore vintage scooters and give them the respect they deserve so they can get back on the road and be enjoyed for years to come.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, I think people in Dallas like and respect vintage things. Since I opened Kyle’s Scooter Shop I have seen an increase of vintage scooter and moped enthusiasts. There is a great scooter community in Dallas. People get together to socialize, ride and explore the city.
