Meet Laura Squire of Laura Squire Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Squire.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Laura. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started out working for a wedding photographer, shooting tons of weddings of all kinds and cultures. Meeting all of those brides and grooms and building relationships with so many sweet couples paved the way for me to continue capturing their memories as they started families. I absolutely loved seeing my brides and grooms become parents, photographing their newborn babies, those babies became toddlers, and those toddlers became kids! Those brides and grooms shared their experiences with me to their friends, and my business totally exploded all over the metroplex. It’s amazing how I can trace almost every single one of my clients back to a handful of my brides. And these wonderful families keep coming back to me year after year. I am beyond blessed to have such a loyal hoard of clients!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“Comparison is the thief of joy.” Can’t remember where I saw that… maybe a fortune cookie. It’s so easy with social media to look at other photographers’ work and question your own talents and abilities. “Why do they have so many more followers than me?” “Why do their photos get so many more likes than mine?” “Why are their images so much more creative and moving than mine?” “They must make so much more money than I do.” That has probably been my number one struggle– comparing myself to others and constantly questioning if I am good enough. But I just have to focus on exactly what I mentioned earlier– my wonderful, loyal band of clients who come back to me year after year. Those amazing people that trust me to capture their most precious memories. It’s truly an honor.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Laura Squire Photography – what should we know?
These days I specialize in babies, kids, families (and their pets of course!), newborns, and high school seniors. But I love to mix it up with anything else– food and product photography, boudoir, engagements, weddings now and then, events, corporate headshots, architecture, interior design… literally anything! I’ve really done it all and always love trying to shoot new things.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Building relationships and friendships with people. Genuinely caring about them and their families.
