Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Rohlich.
Jamie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I spent many years in the corporate world climbing the ladder and killing my self to hit goals. I traveled constantly and was tired of never seeing my kids. I had mentioned to my husband many times that I wanted to open a boutique. One year for Christmas he wrapped my resignation letter and bought my website. I turned in my resignation on Jan. 1st of that year and never looked back… My store started as a children’s store but evolved into a women’s store. Three years ago we opened our addition and began selling home decor and gifts.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been easy. My store originated in Missouri City, Texas but after being in business 4 years my husband was transferred to Dallas. My youngest daughter Griffin was only 9 days old when he moved and I had a 3 and a half and 4-year old by myself with a store to run. I moved to Dallas and commuted back to Missouri City every week for a year and a half before moving the store to Plano permanently.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Griffin & Grace story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a woman’s boutique that sells anything from candles to shoes. The stores has a very “ Cheers” feel to it and many of my customers have become my friends. I am Very proud how we have grown our business exponentially via social media and continue to see double-digit growth monthly.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I have been lucky to have an amazing husband and kids who have encouraged me and supported me through every twist and turn of owning your own business. I am also lucky to have incredible in-laws who are always there to help me with kids when the store is so busy I can’t see straight . “ it has taken a village” and a whole lot of luck!
