Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyndel Ponce.
Lyndel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My husband and I moved to Dallas in 2015 and quickly realized that the city was extremely pet-friendly. Naturally, we got a Puppy; a French bulldog named Moose! I wanted to find him one of a kind, quality, pet accessories but everything I found was either too expensive or didn’t last very long. It was at this moment I decided to make my own pet wear, neighbors and friends began to take notice.
I started by gifting my collars and bow ties to local pet charities and joined very small shopping events to get a feel for the market. As I became more comfortable with the outcomes of the markets, I joined bigger shopping events and started selling my pet wear online. Now I have the wonderful support of regular customers that I am very thankful to have and look forward to seeing at every shopping event.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road for Uptown Pet Wear. When I started, I was only able to work on pet accessories very late at night due to having a full-time job and school. I also had to learn social media marketing to stay up to date on the latest trends and increase my online presence. Now, I am a mother of a toddler and have another baby on the way, so the road is not getting any smoother, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Uptown Pet Wear – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Uptown Pet Wear hand makes stylish pet accessories. My specialties include collars and dapper bow ties. Customers find that our collars are not only stylish but durable and washable.
What sets Uptown Pet Wear apart from others is our customer service. I have been in the customer service industry for 12 years, working for top retail companies and I have learned that fantastic customer service is a priority for business success.
Now I am proud to say that I have a 5-star rating on my online reviews!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment of my career so far is the strong relationships I have built with my customers. They help spread the word of our quality handmade pet accessories.
I am also proud of selling out of my products at large market events. I hand make all accessories myself and glad to know customers appreciate my quality work.
