Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethany Vera.
Bethany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Photos are more than moments to me, they are memories. A snapshot and a timestamp of life in that moment. I started discovering a love of photography shortly after my son was born when I decided, it was important to capture every roll, every wrinkle and each stage of development as his curly hair grew and grew. I had a Canon camera at home but never really understood each button or setting. I started investing time into online classes, webinars, YouTube tutorials and quickly learned how to make my camera work for me. Through the learning process, I reached out to friends and family and brought them along in the learning process with me. I realized that I loved capturing families, kids and parenthood moments. It brings me so much joy to send a gallery that can capture their story.
Has it been a smooth road?
The world of photography is full of creatives that all have a unique eye, editing style and specific memories they like to capture. However, creatives are some of the most inspiring individuals. The community of photographers has been welcoming and especially in Fort Worth. I have not arrived and will always be learning. Learning and capturing memories for others and for my own family has me excited for the sessions that are to come in 2018.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the LaVidaVera Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
As my love for photography started to develop, I guess you can say I became an Instagram mama. I was that mama who posted countless photos of her baby. I have built an amazing little community of moms, creatives, and family who value the memory that a photo creates. Through capturing images of my family a passion was lit to take my camera and capture more families. To find their story and tell it through an image. Whether this image was going to be used on social or printed in their home I wanted to be the one to capture it.
As a photographer, I am constantly learning and following some other amazing Fort Worth photographers for inspiration. We are a community and we value that over competition.
I want families to come to me because they like me. Word of mouth will spread throughout the Metroplex that I am so kind, gentle and patient when photographing kids. That I make everyone feel as ease, beautiful and unique during their session. That my professionalism exceeds expectations and leaves a lasting impression on each client.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see LaVidaVera Photography staying in the DFW area in the years to come. I see myself capturing memories with families as they grow and add to their legacy. I can also see myself continuing my reputation of patience and professionalism and learning a whole lot!
