Meet Taylor Salerno of Taylor Salerno Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Salerno.

Taylor, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was in junior high, my mom had an old Kodak digital camera. I basically took it over and brought it with me everywhere I went – mainly shooting landscapes, sunsets, and railroad tracks. When I graduated high school my grandfather gave me my first DSLR and I fell in love.

I started photographing all of my family and friends and played around with the business idea for such a long time. While I was attending college for Psychology I realized that it just wasn’t for me and so in basic terms, I quit. I knew what I wanted to do and while it has taken me a couple of years to get there (because life) I am finally pursuing my dreams which is capturing other peoples love stories.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely been a long road. The main struggle I would say has been with myself. I have had a lot of excuses in the past as to why I just wanted to keep photography as a hobby but in the last year or so I have been busting my behind to make this my career. I strongly believe in doing what you love and I can honestly say that this is what I was meant to do.

Please tell us about Taylor Salerno Photography.
I am a photographer in North Texas that specializes in weddings and engagements. I tell love stories. When I photograph my clients I like to make it a good time. Instead of taking couples to a location and have them pose in front of my camera I make it an adventure. I am a total goofball and don’t care about embarrassing myself.

When I photograph a couple I “direct” them with movements and prompts and then I tell them terrible jokes to make them laugh. My clients are my friends and that is what is most important to me. I don’t want to be thought of as “just your photographer” I want to be that awesome chick who you had a blast with and I just happened to document it all.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have started earlier. I kick myself now for not pursuing my dreams sooner but hey, at least I’m here now. Better late than never!
