Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Rejaee.
Julie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I wanted to do something that I was passionate about. I became restless of the mundane routine of working for others but not feeling fulfilled. So, I took a huge leap of faith and turned my passion into a business. I chose downtown Plano as my location because I saw over the past few years that it was becoming a thriving center for food, art, entertainment and shopping. I was also drawn to its historic atmosphere.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a challenging, but each obstacle makes me stronger and allows me to grow. The downtown area is under major construction and with that brings many obstacles. I rely on my social media and website as other platform to my business. As a small business owner I am limited on my purchases for the boutique but so far, I have been able to supply the needs of my customers.
The Feathered Nest – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I strive to make everyone who walks through the door feel welcome. To give ladies quality clothing, accessories, jewelry for a reasonable price. My aim is to make each customer who walks through the door feel welcome whether they are browsing or purchasing, I treat each one the same. I pride myself on customer service, help to select and make suggestions for their wardrobe.
The style I’m drawn to is feminine, romantic with a touch of gypsy boho. I love to style pieces and add my own twist, the unexpected. Lace, velvet, with a pair of cowboy boots is one of my favorites. Your style is your signature, do not be afraid to express who you are through your clothing. Some ladies feel intimidated at first but then they start to bloom and come alive like a beautiful flower.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I have to say my proudest moment is when I’ve had ladies that do not feel comfortable in their own bodies. Who state that they cannot wear the type of clothing I sell. After asking permission I will pull outfits for them, walking them through how to style and accessorize. They are so overwhelmed with happiness and gratitude that I’ve had several customers shed tears. One lady actually said to me “I’ve never felt pretty before, until now.” This brings equal joy to myself and my customers.
