Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Goulart.
Michael, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’ve always drawn cartoons and doodles as far back as I can remember. Once I entered the job market, I chose welding and mechanic work. I also love to build things. I chose to incorporate my work skills and my art skills together to make sculptures. I still draw, but sculptures are my passion.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I usually try to create living things. I love nature and creatures of all shapes and sizes. I hope that people look at my work and try to find all the unique items I use during the building process. My artwork is meant to make people think about nature and also think about how things work
What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
I definitely do think the role of artists have changed. I think that artists are being pushed more and more each day to create unique work, and art that contains more of a statement than in the past. For myself, the issues don’t affect my work, or I try not to let them affect my work. Most of my artwork has little to nothing to do with what’s going on. That’s not to say my stance on that won’t change though.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
