Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Evans.
Sharon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started the company in 1983 as a single mother with 2 small children, having had only a short time in the retail industry. My dream was to create amazing pieces of fine jewelry that anyone could afford. After settling in Saginaw (a small suburb of Fort Worth), I made my first sale sitting on the floor waiting for the phone to be installed. In my 34 years, I’ve been honored to design, create and provide hand-selected pieces across all of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex — and beyond.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is cliché but true –the road less traveled is never as smooth as one might hope. Finding balance between family and work has been the biggest challenge. I have been fortunate that both my children grew up in the business with me. When they were young, they did their homework at my desk, greeted customers, wrapped gifts, cleaned the cases, and answered phones. They grew up knowing that customer service was a major factor to our success — along with quality products and excellent pricing.
Collections Fine Jewelry & CFJ Manufacturing – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Collections Fine Jewelry is a family owned business specializing in full-service jewelry design and repairs; from complex repairs to incomparable unique pieces, we pride ourselves on the heirloom quality pieces we provide. In addition to fine jewelry, our showroom features name brand watches, fine crystal, giftware and much more. In our ongoing 34 years of business, we are most proud of the relationships we’ve built in our community.
It’s truly a gift to see second and third generation clients visit us for their fine jewelry needs. I believe what sets us apart from other jewelry stores is the family attention you receive. We believe in building customers for generations — and earning the title of your family jewelers.
Who else deserves credit – have you had mentors, supporters, cheerleaders, advocates, clients or teammates that have played a big role in your success or the success of the business? If so – who are they and what role did they plan / how did they help.
Our clients deserve all the credit. Our business has grown over the years strictly from word of mouth. We love hearing the stories about how new clients came to find us. It’s like the 7 degrees of separation game. Their continued support, accolades and recommendations have truly been the major reason for our success. Second to our clients would have to be my family; without whom I would not have been able to accomplish.
