Today we’d like to introduce you to Demi LaVoyce.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’ve been singing and writing songs since I was about 7 years old. I remember showing my dad, who was a producer, the first song I ever wrote, and he was blown away. Not that it was anything spectacular, but for a 7-year-old he was impressed. Since then, I’ve been living life and digging deeper into my craft.
Please tell us about your art.
I would say I’m a singer, but I’m not. I would say I’m a songwriter, but I’m not. I’m simply an artist. I do a lot of shit. I love creating things that make people feel something. Something that people can truly relate to. Everything I create is solely to make people feel less alone and promote unity.
I’m inspired by life, experiences (my own and others), and emotions. This world is full of chaos, and I use my music, and any other art form I’m into that day, to make sense of it all, and attempt to make a change for the better.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
The biggest challenge facing artists today is probably social media. Social media alters your focus and has a way of putting you in a box, and as an artist you aren’t made to live in a box…none of us are really. Social media also gives this false sense of perfection and causes people to become impatient. As an artist patience is key, especially when you’re driven by emotion.
