Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Grieco.
Cynthia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up in El Paso, TX, the daughter of Mexican parents, I was raised assisting my Dad at his shop every Sunday. By the time I started high school, I took computerized accounting and appreciated the business world. I attended the University of Texas at El Paso. While earning my Business Administration Degree in Accounting, I also worked in the University’s accounting department. After graduating in December 1997, I worked for over ten years as a tax preparer and auditor at a local public accounting firm in El Paso, Texas and became certified in New Mexico, April of 2003.
I joined KHA January 2009. During my time at KHA, I started as a tax preparer, move to Manager, Sr. Manager and have recently been admitted as a partner of KHA Accountants, PLLC, January 2017. I am currently the partner in charge of the Business Service Group and enjoying every minute of it. My passion of course, is still working alongside with business and individuals, providing tax and accounting services. As a mother of 3, my journey with KHA has given me the flexibility to continue my career and still be a Super Mom.
I am currently licensed in Texas and am a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of CPAs. I am also an alumnus of Leadership Lewisville 2010-2011 and serve on the board of the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce. I have been a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor® since 2010.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have to say that I have been blessed to have crossed roads with two great CPA firms I have worked for (Clifford & Ross and KHA). Both firms have taken the time to make me who I am today. It takes great patience!
Struggles? Any of my struggles have been more mental than anything. Since, I grow up working as a child, I am always wanting to push things to the next level. Somehow, I always feel challenged to continue running.
KHA – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
KHA started providing accounting, tax and assurance services since 1973. We started as a local CPA firm, merged with another local CPA firm from Denton, November 2012. Recently KHA became a member of G400- American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Group of 400. What does this mean? Well, out of more than 40,000 CPA firms across the United States, the AICPA honored KHA as one of the 500 largest CPA firms in the country. The AIPCA separates the country’s 100 largest CPA firms into a separate group called the G100. The G400, thus, represents the next 400 largest firms in the United States.
We currently provide top quality services from our two offices located in Flower Mound and another in Denton. Even more exciting, as KHA has grown, so have our scope of services. We assist our clients in maximizing tax strategies to increase profitability as well as bringing the client’s attention to the sometimes overlooked areas of planning for retirement, asset protection and wealth transfer. Currently our expanded list of services includes, tax compliance & planning, assurance, personal financial planning and consulting services (business advisory services, fractional CFO services, healthcare management consulting and wealth preservation services).

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
