Today we’d like to introduce you to Emiko Williams.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I became interested in creativeness of hair styling at an early age. I remember styling my younger cousins hair for an event when she was in the 8th grade and now she’s 29. I believe the best part of being a hair care professional is doing something you love and others admire and appreciate it so much that they are willing to pay you for it! The wow factors, tears of joy, and hugs of thanks at the end of each service are why I love what I do!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course, with all good things, there was a struggle. I grew up in MS where there is a great stylist on every corner so, of course, the struggle was building and creating a steady reliable clientele so that I could create a good foundation for my clients and myself. I took whatever route I felt was best for me. I continued my education to strengthen any weakness and marketed myself the best way I knew how.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Hair by Shear Chic story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in everything healthy hair with the exception of braids extensions. I do it all from cuts, color, teaching techniques in a class setting or one on one. I am a Hair Care Professional, I pride myself on all things healthy hair. I’m more than a hairstylist and that’s what sets me apart from others.
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
All of my aunt’s, cousins, friends, etc. Every woman in my life is a blessing and a great inspiration!
