Today we’d like to introduce you to Francisca Limon.
Francisca, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We are from the South of Veracruz near Tabasco. After living so many years away from your hometown, you start to miss your food. We would go out to eat and we would not find anything near our culture’s food. So, one day we thought “we are not the only ones in search of our food”.
As a family, we sat down and set up the goal to save up and began this new project as a family, Simon Limon, Francisca Limon and the kids Dania Limon and David Limon.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Our intuition drove us down the right path because our Veracruzanos and Tabasqueños found us. One customer told another customer and that customer told the other and so on. That Limon’s has arrived, from that point on we have been blessed by God. To add the cherry on top, the African Americans, Anglo’s and so many other cultures have loved our gastronomy. Limon’s may not be luxurious, but when you walk in through the doors you sense a warm heart on any plate.
Limon’s Restaurant – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I, Francisca Limon, am the owner and the chef. Cooking has always been my passion. On May 11, 2013, when the doors opened as of today I’ve been the only chef. I have my helpers, but personally, I make the Mole, the pozole, cochinita, tamales Veracruzanos, Garnachas and so many more antojitos the list goes on forever AND that made the difference from any other restaurant.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Today, I can say, that in every project, no matter what it is, requires love, dedication and a lot of passion drives you to an excellent result. For me, I see every weekend our restaurant full, exactly a year ago, I was mentioned on “Dallas Observer” and on Yelp our 5 stars is not going anywhere. We are still here with same passion from when we began with.
