Meet Asia Kyreé of Asia Kyreé Music in Lewisville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Asia Kyreé.

Asia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, I am from Kansas City, Missouri. It is pretty hood. I grew up with my big sister and her kids. My nieces and nephews were like siblings to me. I did talents shows in school and wrote poems every chance I could. I used to just bust out in song for my mom’s friends and they used to ask me for my autograph At the age of 5. As I got older, I lost focus on the music and got into fights often, skipped school, & was influenced by my environment. I had to get away from that so after my high school graduation in 2015, I came to Dallas with my big sister who had loved a few years before, so I had to stay in different families houses. I came to Dallas and got a job because I never wanted to go to college. I worked in corporate America for 3 years and in 2017, I came across some friends who told me to take my music seriously because I am really good. Now, I’m here.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not smooth. Coming up, I was dating women which my family didn’t really like and a part of me just wanted to be accepted. Also, in school, I had no focus I was too into relationships, even drugs. I was bouncing from house to house so I never felt like I had a home of my own. I and my mom had to stay in a battered women’s shelter and I was so depressed. Literally missing school weeks at a time because I had no ride to school. No one ever knew why I was gone so long though because I was too embarrassed to say. Financial problems stood between me and certain things other kids got while in school. Certain events and things I couldn’t attend.

Asia Kyreé Music – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a singer/rapper/songwriter. I am an artist. I am a musician. I am also known for giving looks. I graduated from a performing arts school and majored in dance and fashion. Fashion is my second calling so I’m always looking the part. I make sure my music has substance and tells a story. A lot of female artists I know talk about nothing important or nothing relatable. I, however, want to open a door to girls who have been in my shoes. I am most proud of the fact that I haven’t quit. With a certain type of music being demanded now… sometimes, I don’t fit the criteria but I know someone wants to hear me so I keep going

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is peace. We will never be quite satisfied with life itself but having peace and knowing you’ve done well for yourself puts you at ease. Material things aren’t a necessity to me. I’m currently looking for positive energy all around me. My team knows that I can’t have it any other way.
