Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Chidsey-Brosnan.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Morgan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It was only after one semester of business school in Denver that I knew I would never truly be fulfilled and I needed to make a change, one with passion and joy as the forefront of how I shape my life. I was seeking something that I loved and quiet honestly selecting photography was a decision full of whim and hopefulness for a career as I enrolled at Brooks Institute of Photography and moved to Santa Barbara, California in 2010. It was there, I learned the ends and outs of the craft and quickly developed a unique photography style. I instantly felt like I had found what I was meant to do and fell completely in love with the entire process of creating a photograph, from the styling, to the connection with the muse, and then the feeling of holding the final collaboration in a tangible piece of art.
Starting out, I primary captured fashion and editorial work, therefore, after graduating, I moved to Dallas to become a full-time photographer for an e-commerce website. It was through that experience, I quickly set out to become a freelance photographer, and that is when I expanded my work to capturing my other favorite thing, love. Gratefully, within a year, I was able to start my first company A sea of Love in February 2014. Over the years, I am fortunate enough to be capturing my love of love and fashion in Dallas and around the country. It has been my goal from the beginning to project my soul and have each project flow seamlessly between real life and editorial and love where each shoot leads me. A Sea of Love has grown over the years into a husband and wife owner company with my Blake. I never knew my story could feel even sweeter until now, being able to collaborate, create, and thrive beside the love of my life.
Has it been a smooth road?
There have certainly been bumps along the way and for me personally, most were all internal stresses and anxieties. It was a challenge being an artist in the rise of the Social Media Era as I could not help but utilize Instagram as a tool to constantly compared myself to other photographers. Inevitably I became insecure about what it is that I was creating. This struggle, amongst a few others that fall in line, can be super hindering, particularly on young women starting their journey as a business owner. But, it is so important to never lose sight of your unique point of view and celebrate the individual beauty that sparked the idea to put yourself out there in the first place, and not allow other people’s experiences to take away from your own.
Still reminding myself. (:
So, as you know, we’re impressed with a sea of love – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I like to call my style “artist realistic”.
The base of my work is inspired by simplicity and truth. As I previously stated in the story of my journey, it has always been a goal of my to capture both fashion and love and to then have both portfolios seamlessly blend together. I capture fashion with an airy-rawness and our wedding clients in the same editorial light. I like to envision each frame as a painting and be intentional with the placement of anything I allow into the photograph, whether it be an advertisement for a bridal designer or a room full of joy toasting to the bride and groom.

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
I feel like a big barrier to female leadership, in general, is the fact that this is sadly even a question.
