Today we’d like to introduce you to Teal Gray.
Teal, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The Lavender Crow is the culmination of years of separate interests coming together in a way I could not have imagined.
I grew up helping in my father’s garden with the family pet crow Joe, Bunkie the squirrel, Quakers the duck and of course my dachshund Max. We were a motley crew on our one-acre paradise in the middle of North Dallas. If I wasn’t in the garden, I was on my pony shorty daydreaming of the old west. A city girl with a country girl heart.
You would imagine I went into a career a bit earthier, but I spent my adult life in restaurant, property and office management. My spaces filled with plants and little-potted gardens where ever I could fit them in. Always with a side business of my own, writing, sewing, painting and creating herbal gift products. Building my skills and earning my N.D. Doctorate of Holistic Health based in Theology in 1996, ordained as an Interfaith Minister in 2011, and with continuing certifications, Board Certified as a Holistic Health Practitioner in 2017.
Last year, I built the company and my writing to a point I could make the transition to work for myself full time.
Has it been a smooth road?
As a spirit led herbalist living surrounded by cement, the daily grind, and pressure of the ticking clock, I began to wonder how I had gotten so far from my dream. The main joy in my life then and now is being a mom. As a single mom for many years, I was grateful for the steady income. My girls now are grown, I could make the leap to writing full time and running my own business.
I have written three books to date. Two have been Amazon Best Sellers. Shades of Angels, Spirited Tales, and Scared Senseless.
My daughters and I visit sacred sites as we travel, I craft things, but not until last year did it all come together and make sense in my own mind. Finally, I could see how the seemingly very different aspects and interests in my life compliment each other and are necessary parts of the whole. I needed the years of business experience to create and grow my business. The spiritual path and desire for more time with mother nature were not abandoned. I kept learning, honing my skills in those areas. I wasn’t traveling a zig-zag random path at all.
I found a way to bring my love of family, spiritual life and travel together. The Lavender Crow products are created with homegrown sage, lavender, herbs, and flowers, blended together with Holy Water, oils and salts I collect on my travels. I infuse my potpourri, candles, soap, sprays, and lotions with homegrown, blessed ingredients. You can never have too many blessings, right?

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love Dallas. It is a vibrant progressive city surrounded with every opportunity to enjoy the nightlife at its many hot spots, the plant life at the 66- acre Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. and animal life at the Dallas Zoo.
I am present at the many festivals and holiday events around DFW. If you want a bit more of a cowboy adventure visit Southfork Ranch. I was an extra in the movie Dallas The Early Years by the way!
