Today we’d like to introduce you to LaShawna Morrison.
LaShawna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am an artist. I have always had a passion for painting and drawing growing up. I decided to transition in late 2014 from canvases to faces. It was not easy but the concepts were somewhat similar. I practiced on friends, family and did a lot of trade work for models and photographers to help build my portfolio. In the midst of doing this, it helped me perfect my craft and I began freelancing. In addition to that, I decided to post OOTD’s (Outfit of the Day) photos as a hobby for inspiration and people loved them and demanded more. I wanted to change the theme of my page by incorporating my love for beauty and fashion. When I decided to start doing this, my page began to grow. I am now a full-time professional makeup artist and social media influencer.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Trying to manage motherhood, being an influencer, a makeup artist along with many other hats we wear as women aren’t easy, but it is very rewarding. There are a lot of sacrifices you have to make to gain your successes. I was not prepared for that lifestyle but over the years I have learned to adapt and overcome the challenges. The best advice I can give is to have patience and love what you do. Never stop wanting to learn and try new things. Sometimes taking risks can open doors of favorable opportunities for us. Do not let doubt and fear in the picture because once you do, it can and will control you. If you are first starting out as a makeup artist or influencer, have confidence. Success does not happen overnight and you will have to put in a lot of time and work to build your empire.

I am a full-time professional makeup artist. I serve all over the country when I am needed but my home base in Dallas, TX. In my spare time, I am a social media beauty and style influencer. I have been granted many amazing opportunities to work with both amazing celebrities and brands. I am most proud of my accomplishments as a young woman in this industry. The fact that I have worked hard to be granted opportunities to work with such successful people, I have come a long way in such a short period of time. I, however, know that this is only the beginning for me. My work ethic and overall aesthetic are what sets me apart from others. We are all unique and creative in our own way.
What once started as a hobby in late 2016 turned into a career for me as a beauty and style influencer. I didn’t realize how many people actually love my work, page, and tell me how much of an inspiration I am to them. That’s the best feeling in the world knowing that you inspire others and that they look forward to your posts.
Who have you been inspired by?
My older sister has inspired me to be a powerful, successful, phenomenal young woman. She has taught me that the sky is the limit and anything I want I can have but I have to be willing to work hard for it.
