Meet Destiny Oribhabor of Destiny Unveiled in DFW

Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Oribhabor.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Destiny. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When it comes to being a woman, or a human for that matter, it’s easy to be preoccupied with an “image” of perfection and yet we can be dying inside. We can post beautiful selfies and look put together, which may be contrary to what is really going on inside our hearts. In 2010, the Lord gave me this word Unveiled the summer before starting my graduate school program, and I thought that was it. That with this new found revelation, life would be smooth-sailing. Little did I know soon after getting my Master’s degree in 2012, the revelation would be the beginning of my journey. Before He would allow me to spread this message, God was restoring, and still is, my brokenness. My parents named me Destiny due to unfortunate circumstances surrounding my birth. What the enemy meant for evil, God used it for good. In 2016, God clearly told me that a part of my purpose was to help women identify their own. Through my story of brokenness and redemption it led me to start the organization Destiny Unveiled. I want to be a part of seeing women walk in Freedom and helping to build resources and events to do that.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in life is a smooth challenge, which is beautiful in a sense. This journey has definitely not been easy. I think comparison is one of the biggest ways I find myself giving in. It is easy for any of us who are wanting to walk in our purpose, look to our left and right to measure how we are doing. Which has been so dangerous for me because everyone’s timing on their road to creativity will NEVER been like the next person. This is a lesson I am constantly learning.

Destiny Unveiled – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our mission is to help women identify misconceptions and veils that have hindered them from walking in freedom, purpose and destiny. We aim to fulfill our mission through media, service, events and testimonies. We are currently in transition to define where we want to go forward, but I would say I am most proud of is the campaign we did when we launched. We had a What is Your Veil Campaign, and had about 30 women post on social media their struggles and vulnerabilities. The stories caused a domino effect and had women conversing from all over about their own struggles because they saw another woman being honest. This is the heart behind what we do. That when one woman removes the mask, it will empower another woman to do the same.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
There have been times when I have doubted my mission due to comparison. A young lady reached out to me and informed me that the posts and messages on our social media stopped her from committing suicide. I can’t even take credit for this. I am just so thankful to God for pushing me to walk out what He has called me to. It’s easy to assume that small beginnings means less impact, but this young ladies story was a reminder that we all have something to give. To never discredit your mission and purpose because its empowering people that you might not event expect.
