Today we’d like to introduce you to Sidney Scott.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I am the daughter of two, life-long musicians. My parents met in a band named Rotel & The Hot Tomatoes, a party band based out of Austin, TX. I would go to just about every gig or rehearsal they had. I had an interest in music from an early age since I was constantly around it and began writing songs and recording them on a little tape recorder.
My mother is a vocalist so she taught me everything I know about singing. My style varies from soulful or jazzy to country or musical theatre. I taught myself guitar and have been playing and singing ever since.
Please tell us about your art.
I feel like my art is very unique and different than anyone else. I sing because it’s what I was made to do. It is who I am and I want to share it with the world. Through my singing, I hope to bring joy to people and give them an experience that they will always remember. I always want my voice to linger in people’s minds after they see me perform. I think music can bring people together and make them forget about issues that may be going on in the world.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
I would say don’t doubt yourself. In the artistic world, you cannot judge or doubt yourself. You have to keep the creativity flowing so do not think negatively of your work, just keep moving! This is something I still need help with sometimes, but as artists we have to keep our heads up, don’t compare your work to other’s and just keep singing. Like finding Nemo,” just keep swimming, just keep swimming.”

I am working on getting a website set up, as well as get my music on Spotify. I am not there yet, but for now, people can visit my Instagram @sidneyellenscott. I am always posting song Snipits and gig dates, so it’s the best place to keep in the know!
