Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Finley.
Robert, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I spent 20 years in the financial service industry. The last 10 of those years I spent traveling back and forth from Texas to New York. I also spent 8 of those last 10 years on the weekends traveling to California because my son raced motocross at a national level. At the age of 13, my wife feared for my son’s life because of the dangers of motocross. I was exhausted traveling all across the country so as a family we decided to make a wholesale change. We moved our son out of the air to the ground and started racing go karts and at the same time we decided to make a business out of it so we bought a franchise and set up shop in Frisco, Texas.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The city of Frisco totally embraced us from the beginning. We launched December 14, 2011 and were profitable day one.
Please tell us about Pole Position Raceway.
I have always said that I use to sell mutual funds and now I just sell fun! We do over 350 corporate events and even more birthday parties annually. The thing that I am proud of most is that the business became totally debt free within 20 months of opening. With a city that is only 50% occupied the possibilities are endless in terms of growth for us.
I believe what sets us apart is the fact that all of our team members adhere to our Commitment of Excellence for a phenomenal experience for the customer.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing!
