Meet Tiffany Duperré of Belle Petite Design in Keller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Duperré.

Tiffany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been known for my crafty/creative nature growing up but I never really honed in on it until after I gave birth to our daughter, Charlotte. I came back to my corporate sales and marketing job after the standard maternity leave and had all intentions on continuing to work— I didn’t have to, but I knew I wanted to work. I didn’t know how to NOT work. But as it turned out, we had a little bump in the road with our nanny situation and my husband and I decided that it would be most beneficial for me to stay home with my then 7 month old.

As weeks passed, because of the busy-body I am, I quickly realized that I wanted to do something productive during downtime while Charlotte napped and ideally make some extra spending money somehow (because what can I say, this girl like to shop :-P)— which led me to start out as an Event Planner. I immediately had a few friends and friends of friends reach out for my help with their events and in the process, I ended up doing a lot of custom art, calligraphy, and DIY things for those occasions. In doing so, I then realized that my passion wasn’t in event planning, but in creating art and calligraphy. Once word got out that I was doing more art and such, it evolved to what I do now, and Belle Petite Design just took off!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t always been rainbows and butterflies for Belle Petite Design. I remember in the beginning, I was struggling to find the balance of not taking on too much at one time, on top of being a full time stay at home mom and not to mention the additional practice it took to get my hand lettering and water color painting skills up to par. I was just so new to all this, I wasn’t aware how long each job would take. At one point, I was just saying “yes” to anyone that would send a request because I was so excited to get their business and because it was always something I had never done before. Needless to say, it dipped into lot of our family time and all became very overwhelming.

I finally got into the swing of things eventually, and the hand lettering and painting began to feel more natural where I didn’t have to practice ALL THE TIME. Being more organized and scheduling out my days definitely helped!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Belle Petite Design story. Tell us more about the business.
The name, Belle Petite Design came from my love of pretty little details as well as my daughter’s middle name, Belle. Belle Petite Design specializes in custom crafting, watercolor painting and hand lettering/calligraphy. I love taking on new projects that I haven’t done before and working closely with my clients to help design and bring to life what they envision— and it ranges from bridesmaid proposal cards, to wall paintings, to custom signs for weddings/baby showers/birthdays, to envelope addressing, to photo backdrops, to baby milestone cards and milestone blankets just to name a few. I hand write and hand paint everything I do, so almost everything is customizable to accommodate to my client’s needs. I’m probably most known for my mirror calligraphy work, envelope addressing, and photo backdrops!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I can’t say that luck has had too much to do with my business to be honest. Everything has happened because of the work and time I put into it. If I had to pick something in my life that might have to do with luck though, it would have to be how lucky I feel to have such a supportive and helpful husband that is my #1 fan!
