Today we’d like to introduce you to Niesha Johnson.
Niesha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I first started my company in my head at age 12. I was always obsessed with clothes & shopping, so one day I said “I’m going to own a store.” It’s like The Law of Attraction; whatsoever you shall speak & seek, will seek you back. I’ve always been infatuated with the word beauty/beautiful so when selecting a name for the store it was relatively easy. I decided upon Belle because it catered to 2 sides of my life & likings. In French the word means Beautiful & then on the flip a Southern Belle. Born & raised in Dallas TX. & wanting my roots to also have a place within my store, this was the ideal name. From there Belle Collections (Beautiful collections) was birthed.
Getting my start in 2016, BelleCo was originally a costume jewelry store with extravagant neck pieces & earrings. As I grew & evolved so did my store. Taking things from jewelry & accessories to clothing was a bit of a challenge. But I knew that my love for fashion would propel me forth. In order to excel in a way that is benefitting , you have to study, research to learn your target audience & market; In learning these things you want to also brainstorm your ideal client which will also help when branding your site as well as selecting products for your store. After 2 long years I still don’t have it all figured out but I can say that I’m enjoying the journey of learning with no plans of stopping anytime soon. With my motto “Lavish Pieces for Stylish Lifestyles,” always playing in my head, the Goal is to live up to the name of my store with making women feel Beautiful, Bold, & Confident one piece at a time.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This process has definitely been one that I never would have imagined. For me, the biggest struggles was no instant sales. For my particular market, I thought running a business was simply getting a site & cute pieces but boy was I wrong. You have the legal aspect which is your DBA, EIN, Tax ID, etc. Then, you have the business aspect which entails marketing, content creation for socials/the site, knowing the target audience, etc. Honestly getting the site & pieces were the most simplex of this process. Although there has been up’s & down’s I would not change this journey for anything & am looking forward to what is to come.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the BelleCo Boutique story. Tell us more about the business.
At BelleCo Boutique, our Motto is “Lavish Pieces for Stylish Lifestyles. We are not a regular store where I’m selling clothes. No, I’m selling you fashion, style, effortless & timeless pieces. My overall goal for my Belle Babes is to make them feel Bold, Beautiful, & confident not only in the pieces that they wear but in their overall life. The pieces that I pull are not seen on our competitors sites because I like to think outside of the box & Instead of following the trend create & set our own.
Running my store makes me a proud mama, but I’m most proud that within the last year my business is getting the necessary recognition to create expansion; from getting booked for fashion shows, to partnerships for vendor opportunities at massive conferences/events, and more. This caterpillar is about ready to come out from the cocoon to fly & I think I’m more excited than nervous to see the wilderness that lies ahead.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I feel that everything is pre-ordained for our journeys on this earth. As long as you stay in alignment, give the energy that you’d like to receive, & work hard then everything for you will come. Also, manifestation & affirmation plays a role in both my personal & business life. I speak what it is that I want to see in my reality & future. Luck to me is just a word of no true substance.
