Today we’d like to introduce you to Maxine Manautou.
Maxine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began doing makeup professionally over 12 years ago, it’s always been a passion of mine since I was very young. I remember wearing red lipstick and a winged liner when I was 13 years old, and still rock that look today!! I knew cosmetics is what I wanted to do, and it wasn’t until I met my husband that I actually began to pursue it as a profession. I think everything started for me when I began working at Sephora many years ago, my passion became my focus and drive to pursue something even bigger. I later became a sales and artistry executive for some of the top brands in the industry, tarte and Anastasia. I soon realized I had more to offer after all the years of Artistry training, so I decided to embark on a new journey to build an onsite makeup service company, Blush and Glow Artistry. I took a leap of faith, I never doubted myself, and I believe that you can achieve anything you pour your heart into. Blush and Glow Artistry is not only for brides seeking makeup and hair on their special day, it’s also for professionals such as photographers & salons who need experienced and trustworthy artists. I mentor many artists who want to pursue makeup as a profession by offering makeup workshops. I think it’s so important to help anyone and everyone who has a dream like I did over a decade ago. I didn’t have that, I didn’t have social media, YouTube or someone to help me and mentor me, and I started from the bottom and worked very hard to establish myself in this industry. My goal is also to help inspire other artists and the everyday girl to be confident in all things beauty.
Has it been a smooth road?
I can definitely say I’ve been beyond blessed to have had many amazing opportunities come across my path. I feel like what you put out into the universe will come back to you. Have I made a few mistakes? Ummm yes absolutely!!! But if you don’t make mistakes how can you learn? I always view it as a learning opportunity rather than an obstacle.

Blush and Glow Artistry offers on site makeup and hair services for any occasion. I also partner with photographers to provide quality artists for their projects as well. I believe in all of my artists, and I think that is what sets us apart and what I’m most proud of. I invest time in them and do all I can to set them up for success so they can later conquer their dreams. I don’t just send someone I meet online to do a job and collect a check, I am passionate about what we do and want the client to look and feel beautiful, most importantly I want photographers to be happy with our work.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Dallas is such a diverse city, there is work everywhere and for everyone! It all depends on the person and their passion and drive and how hard they’ll work for it. Even in the suburbs there is plenty of work and ways to start your business. Dream big and big things will come.
