Classic of Denton, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our slogan is, “Relax and Enjoy the Difference,” and our goal is to sell new Mazdas in a professional and straightforward manner that we know our customers deserve. We don’t want a transaction, we want a long-lasting relationship.
Classic of Denton is more than just a business. It’s a locally-owned dealership based off of family values. In 2004, Richard Allen bought the facility and turned it into a dealership ranked in the Top 30 in national sales volume. We are also a Mazda President’s Club award winner.
“I knew the store was going to be a winner ever since the day I walked in here,” Allen said. “We’ve got a little bit of a different type of business, we do it the old way. I’d rather have a handshake and a promise than someone trying to squeeze a deposit out of them.”
Allen, a past President of the Mazda National Dealer advisory council, has 40 years’ experience in the automotive retail industry and his dealership was one of the first Mazda stores to be named a Mazda “Retail Revolution” facility in North Texas.
The “Retail Revolution” is a program developed by Mazda in 2006 and is founded on Mazda’s examination of the industry’s best practices. The “Retail Revolution” model evolved from the progressive and forward thinking dealers that are focused are on changing the customer’s sales and service experience by creating a retail environment that brings “Zoom Zoom” to Life.
Giving back to the community is also something we pride ourselves on. Throughout the years, we have been a member of the Denton Chamber of Commerce, a sponsor of the North Texas Fair and Rodeo and helped with the Our Daily Bread soup kitchen and the SpiritHorse Therapeutic Center in Corinth along with many other charities and organizations.
Classic of Denton’s sales department is open Monday – Friday from 8am until 8pm and on Saturday from 8am until 6pm. The service department is open Monday – Friday from 7am until 7pm and on Saturday from 8am until 5pm. We are also only 30 Minutes from the Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex.
Has it been a smooth road?
Richard Allen has always maintained a family-like atmosphere in his dealerships. (Classic Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Ram…Classic Mazda…Classic Pre-Owned) We wouldn’t say it’s a struggle to keep that type of mentality going but it’s definitely something that we have always tried to keep as a company.
The General Manager, Rick Wick is extremely involved in the community. He’s a board member in the Denton Chamber of Commerce and everyone knows his name based on his acts of kindness. The fact that Allen hired him on really says something about the type of people he keeps around his business.

Being connected with the local community is a basic priority for all of the Classic family of dealerships, and that is particularly true for Classic Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram and Classic Mazda of Denton. From the time they opened a decade ago, Classic of Denton’s employees have sponsored local families with gifts, food, and donations all throughout the year.
We know that our success as a business hinges on our local community, so giving back to that community is extremely important to us throughout the year and especially during the holidays.
In 2015, Classic of Denton provided a Merry Christmas to 135 families and 268 children in the Denton area. The names were provided from local churches, and friends of the family who knew of this annual program. Employees purchased gifts, and complete holiday dinners and personally delivered to the families so they could be assured of a Merry Christmas.
Our commitment to customer satisfaction is well displayed through our friendly staff, and great prices — not to mention our extensive inventory of used Cars, Trucks, and SUV’s!
The tradition of a holiday fundraiser goes back to when Richard Allen, owner of Classic of Denton, was the used car manager at Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine.
“I wanted to get our employees to rally together so in 1995 we started adopting families,” said Allen. “On the night before Christmas Eve, after the dealership had closed, we would pack up box trucks full of presents, food, and other needed items on the families’ wish list, and deliver them directly to their door.”
A few other examples of Classic of Denton giving back:
– 2013: Classic Mazda donated a van to a couple for Christmas that really needed it
– 2014: We donated $5,000 to the Kraddick Foundation for Kidd’s Kids. That fundraiser helped the Foundation to take a group of special needs children to Walt Disney World. This was the 20th time for Kidd’s Kids as a whole.
– 2017: Every month we help celebrate and congratulate one lucky teacher from Pecan Creek Elementary with a $250 check to help with their school supplies.
– June 2017: We are hosting a Hole-In-One golf tournament for the Dream2Walk Foundation. The first hole-in-one wins a 2017 Mazda CX-5 and all proceeds go to individuals who need financial assistance for spinal rehabilitation
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The Dallas-Fort Worth area is amazing. There is so much to do and you’re able to meet a vast variety of individuals with so many different talents and stories,” said Haley Kilman, Marketing Manager for Classic of Denton. “Everything is within driving distance and there are a ton of companies to either work for or volunteer with, so it’s very easy to stay busy.
