Today we’d like to introduce you to Olive May.
Olive, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Where I am today is truly a result of keeping promises I made to my eight-year-old self. I was born and raised in a little neighborhood in East Dallas. My parents are landscapers, so naturally, my parents would take me with them occasionally to help out with the family business. One of those times, I discovered that wealthy people throw good things away. I began to look through the recycling bins and found two magazines that would make me dream and set goals. Travel magazines and garden magazines would forever change the course of my life. I read about places around the world such as Peru, Africa, and France. I made a promise to see these places when I grew up. When I would read the garden magazines, I also promised myself to have a green garden with hydrangeas one day. I’m proud to say that I kept both promises and have had the privilege of experiencing beautiful cultures around the world and surrounding myself with all the plants I would read and dream about as a kid.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every journey has bumps on the road… that’s life. I’m glad that a lot of mine happened early on in life and helped shape me into the person I am today. As a kid, I was bullied because I didn’t have the latest and greatest clothing. My parents also didn’t believe in spending a lot of money on shoes, which considering how fast my feet grew, was a smart move. Although that was difficult to deal with at the time, I’m thankful for the lesson it taught me: my clothes, shoes or material possessions don’t define me. I learned to value people for who they are and not for what they have to offer. My parents helped me get through that time and always made sure I felt loved and inspired me to be kind even when others weren’t showing me kindness.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Olive May – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I use the Instagram platform to, hopefully, inspire people to do, be, and feel good. Most of all, I hope to inspire people to dream. Whether that dream consists of traveling the world or to surround themselves with nature. I choose to promote positivity, so people don’t forget to enjoy the little moments we’re gifted each day.

Your outlook on life is so refreshing and hope that you inspire so many people on your platform. Your sincerity and grace is so inspiring! I also had to deal with a few of your issues while growing up and feel like it molded me to appreciate more in life and to have empathy for others. Olive is beautiful inside and out. Olive is a dear friend of mine I’ve known her for years and I can honestly say she has a big heart. She is the type of person who will always forgive and show love even if the person is undeserving. Everyone deserves an Olive in their life. ❤️
