Meet Trailblazer Leni Wagers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leni Wagers.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My history was through by an amazing life-changing trip to the greatest country of Cambodia. After watching many severely neglected, disadvantaged, and abused children, I decided that I needed to do something to help. I wasn’t sure what that looked like in my head, but I knew in my heart that I had to come up with something to change someone’s life, even if it was just one of them. Shortly after returning to the US, with a heavy heart, I started to think of all the things I could do. I thought about quitting my job and moving there to help. I thought about getting a second job to provide education. So, I was pretty frustrated and I started to pray about and God sent me a sign after looking around my apartment at the time and thought, dang I have so many shoes, so much clothes and I love taking photos, why not start a blog. Immediately, I decided that I wanted to start a blog about fashion, travel, and fitness, so I could raise money to give back to those kids that were in need. Shortly after, I returned to Cambodia with $12,000 dollars that I raised through my blog to feed the hunger #LeniFeedsthehunger, provide jobs for families and in the slums and even started sponsoring my own child. So, my blog all started with a passion to make a difference in someone’s life through fashion.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the struggles with fashion blogging is that you need the finances because fashion keeps changing and clothes and accessories do cost. In reality, you can buy inexpensive things, but at the same time, you need a team, from photographers, hair, makeup and even someone to help with just emails. My advice for any other women who want to start a blog is this, follow your dreams “even if they cost” but always think it out before, because it requires a lot of commitment and effort.

Here are some of my advice:

1. Follow your dreams, if you are seriously passionate, it will show.
2. Be consistent (post 2-3 weekly).
3. Be different (be yourself).
4. Be creative (think outside the box).
5. Be present, be real, be bold, and most important be kind.

We’d love to hear more about Brasillian Doll Blog.
We’d love to learn more about your work.

What are you most proud of as a brand?
There are so many things I am proud of when It comes to my brand. One of them is Leni Feed the Hunger mission trip that I did 3 years ago to Cambodia. It was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done for anyone. Secondly, I am proud to be one of the top bloggers in Dallas selected to be the main Reality TV Host for a pilot TV show focused on Dallas culture, events, and restaurants (which it will air soon).

What sets you apart from others?
I believe that my heart to help others shows through my blog. I am very compassionate to people and that is a great quality to have. I believe we live in a world that needs more kind, compassionate and authentic people. So, being authentic and compassionate sets me apart from everyone else.

Which women have inspired you in your life?
Gosh, there are so many strong women who inspire me, but I will say both of my mothers inspire me daily. Since most of my followers know that I am adopted and know that I have two mothers who I love dearly. My biological mother inspires me to be resilient, calm, and to be forgiving. My adoptive mother inspires me to be God-fearing, content and compassionate to everyone I meet.
