Today we’d like to introduce you to Shalanda Williams.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Shalanda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am the owner of Shaye’s D’vine Perfection LLC. I’ve been a full-time Salon Owner/Hairstylist for 3 years.
For as long as I can remember, I loved doing hair. True story, It all started when my dad styled my hair for school one day in elementary; I came home crying because the other kids were making fun of my hair. I went straight to him and demanded that he take me to the beauty supply so that I could do my own hair going forward. Lol! Getting my start in the hair industry, I literally grew up around hairstylist.
I’m from a small town called Corsicana, Texas where I took an interest in doing hair at a very young age. Both of my parents being Entrepreneurs, my mother is a former Salon Owner/Hairstylist. And my father currently has a Cement Construction business which has been in business Approximately 30 years. I would always hear, “your mother was a bad girl with some hair.” Lol!
I remember my dad always telling me about when I was in Elementary School that I would line my dolls up and do their hair differently and I would replicate those styles on my hair, Lol! Then in high school, I was presented with the opportunity to enroll in Cosmetology. Although I was in sports and having practices and games, I was still somewhere doing what I love.
My teammates would even have me to do their hair before games. Lol! During that time I gained a decent amount clientele. After I Graduated in 2004, I relocated to Dallas Texas where I then began to work full-time. I later had a son in 2007.
I then started working in the corporate world in 2008 where I started to regain my clientele overtime while working at this Energy company doing my co-workers hair, their family members and different ladies all over the Dallas metroplex. I then married in 2009, had my daughter in 2010 and after 7 years. It was no surprise I eventually put in my resignation in 2015 to begin my new journey as a full-time entrepreneur.
Since then, I’ve attended countless educational classes where I’ve been able to shake hands and rub elbows with some of Dallas’s very own phenomenal, talented, and great Hairstylist and Barbers in the hair industry. I’m most grateful for the ones who’ve poured into me and assisted me in becoming a successful businesswoman and hairstylist.
Has it been a smooth road?
I must admit this journey hasn’t been that bad. There were just some minor challenges along the way. During building my clientele and working full time I still had to balance being a mother of two small children and a wife.
While working full time, I converted one of my rooms in my home into a mini hair salon. In 2015, my biggest fear was stepping out on faith and becoming self-employed. But being a woman of faith, I had to trust God because I knew this was my calling. This is indeed my passion.
Through hard work, dedication, consistency, and great marketing I’ve been blessed to have a substantial amount of clients that I’ve grown close to.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Shaye’s D’vine Perfection LLC – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

I mostly enjoy enhancing my client’s beauty and seeing their priceless reactions when they look in the mirror. I’m known for my neatness, professionalism and great personality.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I enjoy living here in the Dallas area. There’s always something to do. Great food choices and a great place to raise a family. I moved here from the country. So for me, it was definitely a different scenery and much faster than what I was used to.
I have to say; the traffic is by far the worst thing here in Dallas! Lol
