We recently had the chance to connect with Chanda Kea and have shared our conversation below.
Chanda, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I am walking a path that many would not choose. Sometimes it’s bumpy and the weather is not the best, and I often travel it solo. But the peace that comes with it is well with it. And most importantly, God is leading me while I’m on it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I’m Chanda Kea, owner and Principal Interior Designer of Kea Interiors. My design company is based in North Dallas encompassing more than a decade of experience in the interior design industry. We create sophisticated, functional spaces and elevate your quality of life. We always strive to not only create curated places but to also change lives through design.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped how I see myself is with God. We have to believe and know that we are who He says we are and not what the world tells us.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding pain and started using it as power when I truly healed from past traumas. Whether it was from family or friends that mishandled me, I had to first fully release them and set my eyes on things that are ahead and not behind me.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! The public version of me is the real me. What you see is what you get. I may be a little more silly with those closest to me but I want to be real everything that I say and do.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I believe they would miss the relationships that have been built. Although I love to transform my client’s homes, I also pray for them, encourage them and we have some hearty conversations and even laughs about life experiences from time to time. People remember how you make them feel.
