Today we’d like to introduce you to Abisola.
Hi Abisola , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Nigeria, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Driven by a desire to broaden my horizons and further my education, I moved to the United Kingdom to pursue a Master’s degree in Economics at the University of Sheffield. Living and studying abroad exposed me to different cultures, perspectives, and opportunities, and it played a significant role in shaping who I am today.
After completing my master’s degree, I returned to Nigeria and began my professional journey in real estate. That experience taught me valuable lessons about relationship building, communication, and entrepreneurship. I later transitioned into the oil and gas industry, where I gained experience working in a dynamic and fast-paced sector.
One of the most significant turning points in my life happened during a holiday trip to the United States, where I met my husband. What started as a chance encounter blossomed into a meaningful relationship, and two years later we got married. I then relocated to the United States, where we began building our life together.
After moving to the U.S., I continued building my career in the oil and gas industry before eventually transitioning into financial services and compliance. Over the years, I have built a career in risk management and financial crime prevention while balancing the responsibilities of marriage, motherhood, and personal growth.
Today, I wear many hats. I am a wife, mother of two, compliance professional, event planner, and content creator. Many people know me online as Sis Ngozi, a character I created to bring humor and relatable content to my audience. Through content creation, I enjoy making people laugh, connecting with others, and sharing moments that resonate with a wide audience. Through event planning, I enjoy bringing people together and creating memorable experiences.
My journey has taken me from Nigeria to the United Kingdom and eventually to the United States. Along the way, I have learned the importance of resilience, adaptability, faith, and embracing opportunities even when they lead you outside your comfort zone. Every chapter of my life has contributed to who I am today, and I remain passionate about continuous growth, meaningful connections, and making a positive impact wherever I can.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I believe the challenges I have faced have shaped me into the person I am today.
One of the biggest challenges was relocating from Nigeria to the United States after getting married. Starting over in a new country meant leaving behind my support system, adapting to a different culture, and learning to navigate unfamiliar personal and professional environments. Building a career in a new country required patience, persistence, and a willingness to continuously learn and reinvent myself.
Another challenge was balancing multiple roles and responsibilities. As a wife, mother, and professional, there were seasons when finding time for everything felt overwhelming. Learning how to prioritize, set boundaries, and give myself grace during difficult periods has been an ongoing journey.
Professionally, I have also experienced career transitions, moving across industries and adapting to new roles and expectations. Each transition came with uncertainty, but it also created opportunities for growth and development.
Like many people, I have faced moments of self doubt and setbacks along the way. However, I have learned that resilience is built during challenging times, not easy ones. My faith, family, and determination have helped me navigate obstacles and keep moving forward.
Looking back, I am grateful for the challenges because they taught me perseverance, adaptability, and the importance of embracing change. Most importantly, they have strengthened my faith. Through every obstacle and season of uncertainty, God has been faithful. Even when I could not see the bigger picture, He continued to guide, provide, and open doors at the right time. Those experiences have played a significant role in shaping both my personal and professional journey.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
While many people know me today as a content creator and the personality behind Sis Ngozi, my professional journey began in a very different space. After earning my Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Sheffield, I built a career across several industries before eventually transitioning into financial services and compliance.
Although I enjoy my corporate career, creativity has always been a big part of who I am. Over time, I discovered a passion for creating content that entertains and resonates with people. What started as sharing moments from my everyday life grew into a platform where I can make people laugh, showcase my personality, and build a genuine community.
I also enjoy event planning because I love bringing people together and creating memorable experiences. There is something special about seeing an idea come to life and watching people enjoy the moments you have carefully planned.
My entrepreneurial spirit has also led me to explore other ventures. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I dabbled in real estate wholesaling, which gave me valuable insight into investing, networking, and identifying opportunities. It reinforced my belief in continuous learning and being open to new challenges.
One of the things that makes my journey unique is my willingness to embrace different opportunities and interests. I am a wife, mother, professional, event planner, and content creator, and each role has contributed to my growth in different ways.
My goal is to continue creating content that brings joy to others, build meaningful connections, and encourage people to pursue their passions while staying true to themselves.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
To be honest, I do not view my journey as a result of luck. I believe God’s hand has been evident throughout my life.
There have been many moments when things did not go according to my plans, and there were seasons filled with uncertainty, difficult decisions, and challenges. Yet, even during those times, I could see God working behind the scenes in ways I did not fully understand at the time.
I believe faith and hard work go hand in hand. While we all have opportunities that come our way, it takes courage, perseverance, and trust in God’s timing to make the most of them. Some of my greatest lessons have come from situations that did not make sense in the moment but later became important parts of my journey.
Looking back, I am grateful not only for the blessings but also for the challenges because they strengthened my faith, built my character, and prepared me for what was ahead.
What some may call luck, I simply call God’s grace.
