Today we’d like to introduce you to DerNeccia (Lucy) Livingston.
Hi Lucy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello again! It’s truly an honor to be recognized for the third time by Voyage Dallas, also known as Shoutout DFW. You’ve already had the chance to meet the model and artist, PrettyLu, now it’s time to get to know the actress behind the name, Lucy.
While I continue to dominate the runway, I’ve also stepped confidently into the world of acting and commercial work to expand my craft and let my talent shine on screen. My introduction to the entertainment industry began in 2018 when I appeared as an extra on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. That experience opened my eyes to a completely different side of entertainment and inspired me to pursue acting more seriously.
Shortly after, I landed a small role in the popular online series Atlanta Avenue. I was nervous stepping into that role, but I pushed through the fear and gave it my all. You can catch me in Episode 47.
Since then, my journey has continued to grow, and one of the biggest blessings in my acting career has been working with Rainey-King Productions here in Dallas. They have consistently provided me with opportunities to develop and showcase my abilities as an actress. I started on set as an extra, and through hard work, dedication, and consistency, I’ve worked my way into becoming part of the paid cast.
In addition to film and television, I’ve also begun stepping into commercial acting. One of my proudest moments was appearing in my first commercial with Feng Cha Boba Tea, which allowed me to explore another side of the entertainment industry and continue expanding my experience on camera.
My story is proof that consistency is key. Every opportunity, no matter how small, can lead to something greater when you stay committed to your passion and believe in your journey.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t necessarily describe my journey as a struggle, but in many ways, it has been a smooth and rewarding transition. From the moment I stepped onto the set at Rainey-King Productions as an extra, opportunities began to open for me in unexpected ways. Being able to evolve from an extra into landing a leading role feels like a full-circle moment and a true testament to what consistency and dedication can do.
One of the biggest accomplishments for me has been walking onto set for a few extra scenes and leaving as a paid cast member. That growth means everything to me because it showed me that my work, presence, and talent were being recognized. I simply continue to show up, put in the work, and prove to the production team that I was made for the roles I’ve been given. Every opportunity motivates me to work even harder and continue growing within the industry.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
PrettyLu is widely recognized for modeling and runway, while Lucy is becoming known for her growing presence in the acting industry. Both names represent different sides of my creativity and passion, and I’m proud to continue building a brand that reflects versatility, confidence, and dedication.
One of my proudest accomplishments this year was participating in celebrity designer Pink Lucy’s Passport Haute Fashion Show. Being a part of such a major fashion event was an incredible experience and another step toward my goal of working with more high-end fashion designers and putting my runway skills to work on larger platforms within the fashion industry.
At the same time, I’m extremely proud of the progress I’ve made in acting. As I continue stepping into a new lane and taking my acting career more seriously, I’ve been blessed with opportunities to book roles and grow within the entertainment industry. You can currently catch me on Tubi in several Rainey-King Productions films, including Karma in Heels and Gigalow. I’m also excited to be working with the production company on their upcoming film, She Feel for the Realest.
For me, this journey is all about elevation, growth, and proving that I can thrive in both the fashion and film industries.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe the most important qualities contributing to my success are consistency, confidence, adaptability, and perseverance.
One of the strongest characteristics I possess is consistency. I continue to show up, put myself in the room, and remain committed to my craft regardless of the role or opportunity presented to you. My journey from being an extra to becoming part of a paid cast with Rainey-King Productions speaks volumes about my dedication and work ethic. In both modeling and acting, consistency is what separates those who dream from those who grow.
Another major quality is confidence. Transitioning from runway modeling into acting takes courage and belief in myself I’ve allowed myself to evolve creatively while still maintaining my identity as PrettyLu and Lucy. That ability to confidently step into different spaces is powerful and necessary in the entertainment industry.
My adaptability is also a huge part of my success. I’ve shown that I can move between fashion, film, runway, and on-screen performances while continuing to grow in each area. Not everyone can successfully balance multiple talents and still remain authentic to who they are.
Lastly, perseverance stands out. Even when I’m nervous stepping into acting roles, I still pushed forward and did it anyway. That willingness to keep going, learn, and improve is what continues to open doors for me. My story proves that success doesn’t always happen overnight, but when preparation meets persistence, opportunities begin to align.
