Today we’d like to introduce you to Eileen.
Hi Eileen, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My interest in makeup started 10 years ago, during the peak of makeup enthusiasts posting makeup tutorials online. Seeing everyday people who turned their passion into a business was always something I knew I could do when I applied myself. For me, makeup is still so much of a personal passion of mine. I like to go into beauty stores/counters. Look at everything, feel it/test it. I love how much artistry their is in makeup and that is something I align myself with very much. Art is a big passion of mine.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Thankfully, makeup comes easy for me. It is therapeutic for me. Understanding color theory and formulations is a learning curve, that is what I love about the process. Of course the journey has its winding roads. For years I would only do makeup on people in my circle, sisters, mom, cousins. I had so much hesitation doing other faces, mainly because I underestimated my ability to perform well on unfamiliar skin types, shapes, etc. which I realize now is silly, because this craft times time and practice to perfect. And everyone has humble beginnings. I had to ignore my inner saboteur and remind myself of my skill and passion.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m Eileen Granados. I am a makeup artist. I specialize in full and soft glam makeup. I am most proud of my skill to work on anyone and all. All skin types, colors, shapes, etc. I want anyone who sits in my chair to feel beautiful and empowered before and after makeup. My approach is to make all feel welcomed, not intimidated by the process, and to enhance their beauty. I am also a wife, and a mom to 2 beautiful children. They are my reminders to keep working hard and do my absolute best.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I always had an interest in art and music growing up. I played guitar for many years, always had a sketch book, loved painting and being hands on with my art. My earliest memories with makeup are sneaking into my moms makeup bag, and putting on a full face. I would study techniques I saw from beauty gurus online, and try to replicate what I saw, with whatever my mom had (mainly Mary Kay). I have always been a go getter, ambitious, not afraid to try new things. Art has always been in my wheelhouse. Art, in many forms and mediums, continues to be my safe space.
