Today we’d like to introduce you to Gypsy Redd.
Hi Gypsy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Born in New Orleans ,not knowing how big of an impact just that alone would be in my life, moving to Dallas due to Katrina and having to integrate into a whole different culture . I’ve always enjoyed singing and performing but I didn’t feel good enough and that would weigh heavy it wasn’t until my friend Deon called me and said come join a band ,I jumped at the opportunity it was just what I needed! After joining it was a lot of hoops because leading a band is wayy more work than I thought so I decided to take a step back and grow self to be stronger for a band ! My first open mic and singing my 2nd single R.L. was Divine Sol Sundays Shout out Ki Divine! Wooo they created a beautiful space that helped me and my partner in music and Life (EhricJ ) relax and the support was amazing ! From there opportunities just continued to open ! I could feel growth and the responses from crowds literally gives me this humbling sensation! Making beautiful connections along the way, Singing in the ambience with Law and Halley Jay. Appearing in a stage play “Strive” by Joe Johnson . Growing my harmony and background abilities with Deyana Janae in her band Deya soul . To now creating my own new band Gypsy Redd and the Frequency !
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not ! From dealing with different personalities and people giving you that energy that you not good enough ! I’ve learned to go where I’m loved and supported as my song say “If it’s meant for me it will surely be mine.”

Singing /performing
I create a vibe where people are drawn in !
I’m most proud of my improvements ! My songs that I have created with my husband! Let him tell it he the brains behind it all anyways lol as well as the ones coming out !
I feel I give a Gypsy/siren vibe ! Very feminine and sensual
But don’t get it twisted I can give high energy !! Gypsy does it all !!
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
That I’m related to pioneers of jazz !
Found this out 3 years ago and finally got to connect with the great uncle this year ! He’s 95 I believe still headlining jazz shows !!
