Today we’d like to introduce you to Jae Sosa Hunter
Hi Jae, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My entrepreneurial journey in the beauty industry began in 2010 upon graduating from Aveda. During my time at esthetic school, I volunteered as a makeup artist for numerous fashion shows, which ignited my passion for the art of makeup. In 2011, I relocated to the DFW area and collaborated with a bridal team, completing 140 weddings in my inaugural year as a makeup artist. Recognizing the importance of becoming a well-rounded artist, I pursued further education in hair at Toni & Guy. It was there that I discovered my love for the broader aspects of the beauty business and ventured out as an independent artist.
While at Toni & Guy, I had the privilege of winning a contest to train with James Ryder Makeup Labs in Hollywood, leading to my first editorial publication and a newfound fascination with editorial work. My career has since afforded me the opportunity to work across various platforms, including film, print, and everyday beauty. I have had the honor of collaborating with notable figures such as Hailey Michelle West, the face of Morphe and Resort World Las Vegas; Kail Lowry and Lindsie Chrisley for their podcast series; Lilyan Cole from Making a Model; as well as several other remarkable models, actors, and singers.
This past year, I took a bold step by integrating traditional beauty with medical aesthetics, launching a new medspa in Colleyville with the support of my medical director, Dr. Azeza Uddin. Inspired by my daughter’s negative experience at another spa, I established Jade Beauty Collective—a sanctuary for artists seeking a safe, supportive environment where they can continue their education and refine their skills. Jade Beauty Collective is a community of women dedicated to the pursuit of clean beauty and excellence in the field.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has certainly had its challenges. In any industry, especially as an entrepreneur, hurdles are inevitable. Going solo in any field can be intimidating. At the start, you’re responsible for everything—owner, artist, service provider, scheduler, assistant, and more. It can be tough initially, but I approach each day with a fresh perspective. I set a yearly vision for myself, break it down into smaller goals, and methodically check items off my to-do list. Being new to the medspa industry has been a struggle, but my determination is unwavering, and failure is not an option for me.

Jae, as an artist, specializes in hair and makeup, I’m often sought after for branding shoots, special events, and special life moments. Though my reputation is primarily built on my makeup artistry, I am also a dedicated entrepreneur. Beyond my work as a hair and makeup artist, I own Jade Beauty Collective, a medspa that provides medical-grade facials, neurotoxins, fillers, and medical weight loss programs, among other beauty services. Additionally, I co-own a logistics company with my husband and I provide event planning and holiday decor/design services. I also run a neurology practice. I take immense pride in all my endeavors. Reflecting on my journey, the life I have crafted is truly remarkable. What distinguishes me is my unwavering work ethic and profound commitment to exceptional customer service. When you collaborate with me or my team, you’re always treated like family.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most profound lesson I’ve learned is to remain steadfast, dream ambitiously, and maintain unwavering faith. If you approach others and conduct business with the same respect and integrity you wish to receive, success is inevitable. My faith is the cornerstone of all my endeavors, guiding and inspiring everything I do.
