Check Out Janeé BrownGoddess Vaughn’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janeé BrownGoddess Vaughn.

Hi Janeé BrownGoddess, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my love of the arts in New Orleans, Louisiana, where I was born and raised.

I cultivated a poetry program for 9-10 year olds, as a teen.

Created a safe space for kids to express creativity and grow, Keeping It Real Clique, anti-gang gang, also as a teen.

During college, I further explored my love of creative writing and the arts.

I have performed from the age of three across the world in plays, orating in churches, performing in stadiums, halls, ceremonies, private & government functions to crowds of thousands.

I am so grateful to have landed in DFW for this chapter of my creative journey.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The ride has been a bumpy one. As a cancer survivor, I let out an air of victory. As a grieving mother, soon after, I took in my third born’s last breath of life. A breath embellished upon my soul, propelling me to consistently grow in any arena of the arts, with which I am blessed to take part.

I carry her life with me as live through each breath I take with love and gratitude.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a creative, I have been blessed to work with poets, playwrights, visual, musical, & conceptual artists. I love to help them find their inner awesomeness.

I am most known for my spokenword performances, authorship, & philanthropic contributions with local non profit agencies, as a food vendor.

What I am most proud of my growth, in the last three years, as a visual artist with Art Shed Kollective, ASK. While working with ASK I have showcased my art in my home town, in local galleries, & local and national shows.

As most creatives, I am blessed also with musical abilities as a producer & musician. I have played guitar, drums, and piano. The thing that sets me apart from others is that I refuse to be stuck in a niche. I continue all my endeavors and projects simultaneously, each with the vision, conviction, & commitment as intended in the beginnings of their creations.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Nature makes me happiest. I love the way birds and squirrels move without fear, when admired in love. Trees sing glorious notes in chlorophyllic symphonies of color. Flowers bloom in generous aromatherapy, waning to the touch of love. Pure nature at its loveliest and grittiest, keeps me grounded in reality.
