Today we’d like to introduce you to Judy Ferguson.
Judy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It’s after church in the early 2000s. My family of 7 is sitting at a restaurant wearing our Sunday best. As I’m sitting at the table, I look up and see my inspiration, my dad. He’s holding a Sony Handycam, filming our enjoyment.
Fast forward to today, I’m exploring new places across America. As a hobby, I started recording just like my dad – carrying the theme of sharing genuine experiences while dressed up.
Since taking media seriously four years ago, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with major TV companies, creatives, and local businesses to create engaging content. This inspired me to launch my own business and advance my craft by professionally modeling.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My background includes an MBA and is heavily focused on economics. I’ve always pictured a successful 9-5 corporate America career but wanted to find ways to creatively express myself while uplifting my community. When I started taking social media and modeling seriously, I was afraid to be negatively stereotyped. Through meditation, I learned to seek approval within.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I like to consider myself as resourceful as Yellowpages, yet honest like Yelp. I am a model and a content creator with a focus on promoting local businesses. There’s no better feeling than local love!
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I learned quite a few things from the crisis:
* There’s pretty much resources for anything you can think of (Major tip: Take advantage of 211)
* Advocate for yourself. Nobody loves you like you
* Always remember the phrase “this too shall pass.”
