Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Satterwhite.
Hi Laura, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been someone who believed that you can create a completely different life for yourself, even if your beginning wasn’t perfect. Entrepreneurship honestly came from a mix of survival, creativity, determination, and refusing to settle for a life that didn’t feel aligned with who I knew I could become.
I’ve always been artistic at heart. From drawing, writing poetry, and painting to design and beauty. Creating things that made people feel something came naturally to me. After becoming a mom, I knew I wanted more freedom, more purpose, and more control over my future. I was drawn to the beauty industry because it blended artistry with confidence-building in such a powerful way.
I started my permanent makeup journey in 2018, and in the beginning, I worked nonstop to build my business. There were seasons where I was booked out nearly a year in advance. I poured everything into mastering my craft, creating an experience people remembered, and building genuine relationships with my clients. What started as just offering PMU services eventually evolved into something much bigger.
Today, I own a beauty bar in Tyler, Texas, where we offer everything from permanent makeup and fine line tattoos to facials, waxing, lash lifts + tint, scar camouflage, and medical tattooing services like areola restoration for breast cancer survivors. That part of my work is especially meaningful to me because cancer has deeply impacted my life personally. My father passed away from cancer when I was only four years old, and helping women regain confidence after reconstruction is something that truly touches my heart.
One of the biggest things I’m proud of is creating opportunities not just for myself, but for other women. Building a team and mentoring artists has become one of the most fulfilling parts of this journey. I love helping women grow in confidence, business, and financial independence while creating careers they genuinely love.
Like most entrepreneurs, the journey hasn’t been easy. There have been exhausting seasons, self-doubt, financial risks, and moments where I questioned everything. But I’ve always believed that every hard season was preparing me for the next level. I’m a huge believer in mindset, manifestation, and refusing to accept “no” as the final answer when I know something is possible.
Recently, I was featured on the TV show Women in Power, where I shared more about my entrepreneurship journey, the beautifully broken road that led me here, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. That experience reminded me how important it is to share the real story… not just the polished highlights, but the resilience behind it all.
At the end of the day, my mission has never been just about beauty. It’s about helping people feel confident, helping women build lives they’re proud of, and proving that you can turn passion, pain, creativity, and persistence into something truly meaningful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all… there have definitely been challenges along the way. Like many entrepreneurs, I started with a lot of passion but no perfect roadmap. In the beginning, I was wearing every hat imaginable while also trying to balance motherhood, marriage, and growing a business from the ground up.
Covid has certainly been my biggest obstacle to conquer as I was shut down for over 2 months. There were so many road blocks, self-doubts, and pivots. The beauty industry is constantly evolving, and the economy has definitely impacted client spending over the years, so I’ve had to learn how to adapt, pivot, and continue growing instead of becoming comfortable. There have been seasons of burnout, self-doubt, and feeling stretched thin trying to manage everything at once.
Permanent makeup is also physically demanding work, so over time I’ve had to learn the importance of boundaries, balance, and building something bigger than just myself behind the chair every day.
But honestly, those challenges shaped me into the business owner and person I am today. Every difficult season taught me resilience, creativity, and the importance of continuing to grow… both personally and professionally.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m the owner of Artistry Ink & Beauty Bar in Tyler, Texas, where we offer a wide range of beauty and confidence-based services including permanent makeup, fine line tattoos, facials, waxing, lash lift + tint, brow tint + lamination, scar camouflage, and medical tattooing services like areola restoration for breast cancer survivors.
Personally, I specialize in permanent makeup, with a strong focus on natural-looking brows, lip blush, and subtle eyeliner enhancements. One thing I’ve become especially known for is creating soft, customized results that enhance someone’s features without looking overly harsh or “overdone.” I spend a lot of time educating clients, measuring carefully, and tailoring every appointment to the individual person sitting in my chair because no two faces, or lifestyles, are the same.
I’d say what sets me apart is the combination of artistry, connection, and experience. I truly care about the people who trust me with their face, and I think clients can feel that. I’ve worked hard to create an environment where people feel comfortable, understood, and genuinely cared for… not rushed through an appointment.
I’m also incredibly proud of the team and atmosphere we’ve built at the beauty bar. Watching other women grow their confidence, careers, and businesses alongside me has become one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
One area especially close to my heart is areola restoration tattooing for breast cancer survivors. Helping someone regain confidence after reconstruction is so much deeper than beauty, and those appointments remind me why I love what I do.
Overall, I’m most proud that I’ve built a business that blends artistry, empowerment, and real human connection… while staying true to myself throughout the process.
