Check Out Lucero’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucero.

Hi Lucero, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Lucero Hernandez and I am a 23-year-old Latina entrepreneur and beauty influencer based in Dallas, Texas. I dedicate my time to share my passion for beauty on social media (my social media handle is @Lucerodolll) for women that love skincare, makeup and self care as much as I do.

I am a first generation student that recently graduated December of 2024 from Southern Methodist University, with a bachelors degree in fashion media from the Meadows School of Arts, and a minor in business administration from the Cox School of Business. I decided to pursue fashion media and business because my degree allowed me to tap into my creative (I am left-handed) side (I also found that fashion media was very closely aligned with the beauty industry), while still learning as much information regarding the topics of business and entrepreneurship.

I always knew that I wanted to be a business owner and pursue a less traditional route after graduating college. I have always been a very artistic and creative person that has also always been very business and education oriented. Therefore, earning my degree and walking the stage was something that was extremely important for me, because I found that my education and continuing to learn from professionals in the industry was crucial to becoming an entrepreneur.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey in social media has been such an amazing experience, especially with having a social media audience that is so supportive and allows me to not only be myself, but encourages me to post authentic content that represents my vision for beauty as well. Although there are many talented and wonderful creators out there that post beauty content like I do, I believe there is room for everyone to grow, create content around their niche, and receive great feedback from other influencers and their social media audience. I am so excited to continue this amazing experience and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
After graduating from SMU, I immediately knew that I wanted to pursue a career in the beauty industry and put my degree skills to work. Therefore I took the decision of starting my influencing journey and found a lot of joy and enthusiasm in being able to share my beauty and self care interests with an audience that shared those interests as well. I’ve now had the honor of partnering with talented brands in the beauty industry such as Tata Harper, Briogeo, and Lange Hair and building a career by creating content on what I love most, beauty and self care.

My content consists of approachable everyday makeup tutorials, hydrating skincare regimens, and sharing products that I love and that work for my sensitive and dry skin. Although my social media journey only began this year in January of 2025, my journey as a micro-influencer has grown to a combined following of 22K across my platforms (YouTube, TikTok and Instagram). My goal is to continue to build a social media community that feels confident, safe and loved, all through beauty. The concept of beauty and skincare is something that I have always seen as a self care ritual, therefore I began this journey to continue sharing that concept with my social media audience.

Outside of content creation, I continue to strengthen my figure skating skills that I began since I was 12 years old (a hobby that I no longer compete in competitively), as well as continue to learn from industry leading professionals to continue learning about my passion for beauty, skin and self care.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think that beauty consumers and influencers are seeing makeup and skincare as a form of self care, and we are embracing our own personal and unique beauty through exploring new products and skin care routines. Trends in the social media beauty space have now shifted into a self-care approach, ranging from ‘night time skincare routines’ to ‘glass skin makeup’. And I am so grateful to be in a space where both consumers and influencers share their favorite beauty products and skincare regimens that make them feel the most beautiful and authentic versions of themselves. I believe that the trend of prioritizing skincare and wellness is the start of something bigger in the beauty world and I am honored to be a part of it.
