Check Out Marcus Parker’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Parker.

Marcus Parker

Hi Marcus, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I am originally from Port Arthur, and I spent 4 years as an electronics technician in the U.S. Air Force. I also worked on semiconductor equipment and high-efficiency water heaters; I finally built my own small 3D printing lab. I built solar generators to drive the 3D printers in order to reduce the cost of each product. I found that one of the coolest products that could be made by a 3D printer were lithophanes. The word “Lithophane” means to appear out of stone. Pictures can be digitized and 3D-printed into hard plastic that shows a photo when light is applied behind it. After printing a few lithophanes and watching the reaction of the people who saw them, I designed a stand that is also 3D-printed and put a small push-light with it to make a new product that we call “Lit Pics.”

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It is very hard to do things that have never been done. There were many challenges to figuring out how to make the product and how to ship the product. I have been working on perfecting the process.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I own a small 3D printing lab where I build customized lithophane nightlights that I call “Lit-Pics.” I was previous known most for making motivational rap and books in the North Texas schools. One of my songs, called “I Choose Happy,” crossed over 1 million streams on Tin Tok. It’s cool to see people actually appreciating positive rap. I made my last music album, called “Grown Folk Business,” as a goodbye to the music and entertainment and begin my new journey creating these 3D-printed masterpieces for people.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think the characteristic that I have is a never-quit attitude. I tell people all the time that it is so essential to have a positive outlook on life.
