Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Vickers.
Hi Michael, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a self taught artist. Although I have dabbled in different mediums my entire life I was never serious about it. From custom automotive paint on glass and cars to wall art made from stainless steel panels, to a short time I spent doing abstract pointillism. I started working with acrylic paints in 2020, initially doing acrylic pour art. But like everything I do I wanted to make it my own, trying to do things different than others, wanting to stand out. I strive to create eye-catching artwork. The past couple of years I have been doing more traditional abstracts but love combining different techniques to create my artwork.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The past few years have been difficult. Storm damage to my home that displaced us for months with my art supplies in storage. Surgeries to on my back that left unable to create for short periods of time. Having to self promote because my budget barely allowed for art supplies.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Although I’m retired now the types of work I did have profoundly affected my artwork over the years. From automotive paint and customisation to decorative interior window film, even the bartending from my earlier years. I’ve always worked with my hands creating things that are enjoyed by others. The types of things that are also scrutinized upon creation just like artwork. So I think one of the things that set me apart is that need to make artwork that is visually pleasing.
Any big plans?
I’m retired so I’m looking forward to making more artwork. It would be nice to have more of an art career, a little more public exposure. I would really like to have more people enjoying my creative.
