Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Bodansky.
Hi steve, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was a science major, graduated college in 1970, I was going to be drafted so went to Medical School in Pisa, Italy for two years. I got married our last year in college. I knew nothing about pleasuring women and she did not know either and we did not talk about it. She became ill with schizophrenia so she left me to live with her parents.
I moved into this purple house commune in Brooklyn close to my job at the hospital. It was one of many “More” houses across the country at that time in 1973. The main campus was in Lafayette, CA. They taught courses in how to give pleasure to women, receive pleasure and in communication and lifestyles. I was fascinated by the information. I met a young woman who was graduating high school. We had a very good sex life, however she wanted to go to college and medical school so we left the commune after 6 months. I got a position as a doctoral candidate in molecular biology and she went to do her bachelors degree. I liked the theoretical part of my courses, but did not enjoy the lab work. I finished with a master’s degree. She had gotten into medical school. I wound up living at the main campus of Morehouse in California. They had become accredited as a University by then, and it was called More University. I lived there 13 years getting my doctorate in pleasuring women manually.
I met my second wife there. Vera was also studying there, and received her doctorate in being pleasured, great combination. We left the commune in 1992 to start our own little teaching business with some of our former students, whom wet taught what we had learned so they could teach as well. We did that for 5 years. Vera wanted me to write a book. Our first book Extended Massive Orgasm was a best seller throughout the world. We left our little group in 1997 and just started teaching on our own. I have written 17 books since on the topic of pleasure, and continue to do so. Vera passed away in 2024 from Alzheimer’s. I had become an excellent carelover and she was probably the happiest of Alzheimer’s patients, as I have written about in two books.
I have recently met a young woman. We are collaborating on writing a book about relationships, titled the PARN Method (Playfulness, Attention, Revealing, Noticing).
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was a challenge leaving the commune to start our own business from scratch. We were going to go on a world tour for our book in 2001 but Vera got colon cancer and was in no shape for that.
Another obstacle was that our publishing company sold their business after publishing 4 of my books. I turned to self publishing. I am not very good at marketing so they have not been as successful as my first few books were.
When Vera got Alzheimer’s it slowed our business down drastically.
The latest obstacle is that my beloved partner Shane lives in New York and I live in California.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been teaching, first at the commune and then afterwards on how to give and receive pleasure and how to relate better with your partner. We have had many clients that have come to us from all over the world since we left the commune.
I am a published author of 18 books since 2000, two of them being best sellers.
I sell a video on my website of a one hour long, manually stimulated orgasm, called the Demonstration of an Extended Massive Orgasm or the DEMO.
What matters most to you?
What matters to me is the ability to love, care, show kindness, and to help others. It matters to listen well and to be as present as I can with everything that I experience. I have been studying Buddhism and meditation for a number of years and that is a good basis for that.
