Check Out Tristan Dobbs’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tristan Dobbs.

Hi Tristan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Howdy,

I’m the Director behind the Stockyards Report, which has a whole team of reporters covering the story of the Fort Worth Stockyards. We throw events across the district, manage media in-house, while collaborating under contract with a significant portion of the district. Most of my staff are residents of the district, we work diligently to preserve the stories of the Stockyards.

The motivation behind SYR, was that I personally felt like the community deserved a storyteller. I saw these businesses lacking a connected link & have slowly built one. Every side of the Stockyards is unique, & many lives has been spent here. Our tagline is Preserving the past, Reporting the present.

Thankfully my vision has been rather successful we’ve reached an audience of millions in a short six months, stoked for the future.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not, most places didn’t see the vision. Even after landing full on partnerships with places like Cattlemen’s Steakhouse, Riscky’s Concepts, John Wayne Museum. Still we face resistance, but as the influence builds so does the ease. Delegation of my team is bumpy, as our list of partners grew so did the logistics. We’re landed somewhere in the ballpark of sixty contracts. But our following & presence grows with each day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I live in the Historic District of the Fort Worth Stockyards, I never leave the place. My income is generated from the contracts with the businesses & various social media sources. Certain places have me cut into sales, I have merchandise deals, and some just entirely no strings attached sponsorships from people who believe in us.

I’m known locally very well, I spend each day running across the place to film content or have meetings or eat, so between the constant physical presence and the social media viewership our initiatives are well known.

I’m most proud of the stories we’ve preserved, I’m often proud of my team as I have over time given more freedom to act independently on behalf of SYR.

I think what sets me apart is my true passion for the place, I watch the Stockyards Documentary to fall asleep at night. I’m full blown obsessed with its story & operations.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m twenty-three.
