We’re looking forward to introducing you to Clifford Walker. Check out our conversation below.
Clifford, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, what’s been bringing me the most joy is deepening my relationship with God. I’ve always had faith and a strong belief in my Creator, but I realized I had never read the Bible from cover to cover—and there were many parts I simply didn’t understand. So this year, I made a personal commitment to truly grow in my understanding and connection with God. Every morning, before I check my phone, emails, or texts, I brew a cup of coffee, make a little oatmeal, and spend about 30 minutes reading the Word. It’s become a sacred part of my day that grounds me, renews my perspective, and helps me think and move with greater clarity, peace, and purpose.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Clifford Walker—also known as the Cowboy Closer. I’m a real estate investor, coach, speaker, and founder of The Real Estate Corral Investors Network (RECIN), a community built to help everyday people break into real estate investing with confidence, faith, and practical strategies.
What makes my story and brand unique is that I didn’t come from wealth or connections. I started with grit, prayer, and a burning desire to create generational wealth—not just for my family, but for anyone willing to learn and take action. Through our programs, masterclasses, and network, I’ve helped thousands of people secure their first wholesale deal, flip their first house, or get their first rental—sometimes all three.
What I’m most passionate about right now is showing people that real estate is a relationship business. The more people you help, the more doors open. That’s why I focus not just on deals, but on building real, Kingdom-minded connections. I believe in blending faith, business, and service—and I’m on a mission to create impact that honors God and leaves a legacy.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What breaks bonds between people is a lack of trust and a lack of real communication. In today’s world, so many relationships are surface-level. We say things like, “Hey, how are you?” and the response is usually just, “I’m good.” But we never really go deeper. I’ve been guilty of that too. But I’ve learned that what truly restores relationships is the willingness to have hard, honest, and sometimes uncomfortable conversations. That’s where the most meaningful connections are born.
When you take the time to really ask someone, “How are you really doing?”—how’s your family, your marriage, your mindset, your heart—it shifts everything. It shows people that you see them, and that you care. I believe deep conversations create deep connections.
And I think this matters more than ever in a culture that’s become so digital and disconnected. We text instead of talk. We scroll instead of show up. But there’s power in picking up the phone, sitting across from someone, or even writing a handwritten note. It’s those intentional moments that can rebuild trust and breathe new life into broken or neglected relationships.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. I remember early in my entrepreneurial journey, things just completely fell apart. I tried to scale too quickly without truly understanding what I was doing. I attempted to build a team but lacked the leadership skills to support them. Deals were falling through left and right. It got to the point where I seriously questioned whether I was cut out for this. I even reached out to an old friend who had become a supervisor at one of the trucking companies I used to work for—I was ready to go back to driving trucks.
But then something shifted. I truly believe it was God speaking to me. I felt this strong word rise up in my spirit: You’ll succeed if you just don’t quit. That hit me deeply. I ended up turning down the job offer, even though I needed the money—and just a few days later, I landed a deal that gave me the breakthrough I needed. That moment became a turning point for me.
The truth is, entrepreneurship comes with a steep learning curve. It tests your faith, your mindset, and your endurance. And even now, as we grow and scale our community and our brand, I’m still learning, still facing new challenges, still getting knocked down. But I’ve learned to keep going—because the only way to fail is to quit.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. What you see is what you get. I don’t try to hide my flaws or pretend I have it all figured out. I’m not out here acting like a guru or a know-it-all—I’m learning and growing right alongside the people I serve. I tell everyone the truth: I’m still figuring things out. I’ve only been on this entrepreneurial journey for a few years, and there’s still so much for me to learn, both in business and in life.
I’m also transparent about my health journey. I’ve struggled, I’ve fallen short, and I’ve had to get back up—more than once. I share that openly. Whether it’s posting myself grinding it out at the gym or sharing behind-the-scenes moments most people won’t show, I want people to see the full picture. It’s not all fancy vacations, luxury cars, and highlight reels. It’s the struggle, the setbacks, the growth—and the grace. I believe authenticity builds trust, and that’s what I strive to lead with every day.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace during my quiet time in the evenings. It’s become a sacred rhythm in my life. Most nights, I’ll sit outside on the patio with a premium Cuban or Nicaraguan cigar—my one guilty pleasure—and just take in the stillness of the countryside. Sometimes I’ll play some music, listen to a sermon, or dive into a good book. But more often than not, I just sit, reflect, pray, and listen.
That hour allows me to unwind and reconnect—with God, with myself, with my thoughts. In a world full of constant noise and content, we forget how important it is to unplug. You can’t hear God clearly if you’re always consuming something. So I’ve learned to protect that time. It’s in that quiet, under the open sky, that I find the most peace.
