Today we’d like to introduce you to David Odeleye.
Hi David, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Nigeria, where I earned my degree in Computer and Information Science at Lead City University in Oyo State. Coming to the United States meant building from the ground up in a new environment, with no shortcuts and no safety net. That experience shaped everything about how I work – my resilience, my hunger to prove myself, and my belief that with the right structure and the right mindset, you can figure anything out.
My journey started in customer service and retention, where I learned the fundamentals of solving problems for people under pressure. From there, I transitioned into IT – first as a Help Desk Coordinator, then Desktop Coordinator – steadily building hands-on technical experience. That progression led me to IT project management, where I discovered a real passion for bringing structure and clarity to complex initiatives.
Over the next several years, I grew into senior program management roles, leading large-scale enterprise IT programs – including a $10M+ multi-year program at a financial services company and a telecom engagement where I rescued a stalled multi-team initiative back to 95% completion. I managed distributed teams across the US, Canada, and India, oversaw AWS cloud migrations, and became deeply involved in helping organizations modernize their infrastructure.
In 2024, something shifted. I started showing up on LinkedIn – posting, engaging, learning from other entrepreneurs and business owners. That community lit a fire in me. I saw people building things, solving real problems, and creating impact on their own terms, and I wanted that. It pushed me to launch My Project Brand, where I now consult founders and executive teams on AI implementation and operational strategy. It is the intersection of everything I have built over my career, but on my own terms. That is what brought me here.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it has not been easy. There have been periods where I genuinely questioned whether entrepreneurship was even for me. The self-doubt was real.
In the early days, I cringed at the idea of posting online or putting myself out there. I felt like everyone else knew more than me, like I hadn’t earned the right to have a voice yet. Classic imposter syndrome. But I kept showing up anyway, and something interesting happened: the things I was teaching founders and small business owners, frameworks from my years in enterprise program management were things they hadn’t seen before. Sometimes they had, but often they hadn’t. That realization gave me confidence.
What keeps me grounded is that I’m a constant learner. I never stay in the same place for long. I don’t make the same mistake twice in business or professionally. Every stumble has been a lesson, and I’ve made it a point to treat it that way. The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My Project Brand helps small businesses successfully implement AI tools and technology projects.
Most business owners know AI can save time and increase productivity, but they don’t have the time or expertise to evaluate tools, coordinate implementation, and drive adoption across their teams.
We act as the project manager for those initiatives, helping businesses move from idea to execution while minimizing disruption to day-to-day operations.
With experience leading multimillion-dollar technology projects across banking and telecommunications, we bring enterprise-level project management discipline to growing businesses that need results without adding headcount.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is growth, impact, and doing things on my own terms.
Growth because I am never satisfied staying in the same place. Whether it is a new skill, a new challenge, or a hard lesson, I treat every experience as an opportunity to get better. I do not make the same mistake twice. That mindset has carried me from customer service all the way to running my own consultancy, and it is what keeps me pushing forward even when the road gets hard.
Impact because I want the work to actually mean something. When I help a founder put structure around their chaos, or an IT team navigate a complex relocation without losing a beat, I am not just managing a project. I am helping real people and real businesses move forward. That matters to me deeply.
And doing things on my own terms because that is ultimately why I started My Project Brand. I spent years delivering results for other organizations and doing it well. But there came a point where I wanted to channel that same energy into something I owned. Entrepreneurship is not easy, and I will be the first to admit that. The freedom to build something aligned with my strengths, serve people I genuinely want to help, and grow on my own schedule. That is worth every hard day.
