Today we’d like to introduce you to Dereka Williams.
Hi Dereka, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for working with children started early. Since the age of 10, I was trusted to help care for my triplet cousins, and over the years I became the go-to person for family and friends when they needed someone to watch their children. From 2016 to 2018, I gained more professional hands-on experience working in daycares and disability group homes, which deepened my understanding of caregiving and supporting children with diverse needs.
In 2024, I made the life-changing decision to leave a high-paying corporate career in finance to pursue that passion full-time.
It wasn’t easy. Stepping away from financial stability for a lower-paying role came with fear and uncertainty, but I knew my purpose was bigger than a paycheck. I became a Registered Behavior Technician, providing one-on-one therapy to children with autism. That experience confirmed that I wanted to dedicate my life to helping children and families, especially those dealing with trauma and developmental disabilities.
Although I loved the work, I realized it wasn’t enough to support me financially. That’s when I decided to take another leap and start my own business.
I started a Go fund me page to have everyone that would like to support me send $1. I wanted to legally get my business registered. I was so grateful that I hit that mark quickly and was able to go through the process of getting my business registered!
I created flyers, posted online, and quickly began receiving responses. I gained my first client within my neighborhood, and from there, my business grew rapidly. As demand increased, I began interviewing and bringing on experienced caregivers to join my team.
What started as a leap of faith has now grown into a thriving business, allowing me to continue doing what I love while building something meaningful for my future.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been inconsistency with bookings—there have been weeks where clients didn’t schedule, which made income unpredictable.
Another challenge was the hiring process. I brought people onto my team who, unfortunately, didn’t follow through. It was stressful going through interviews, onboarding, and then having caregivers back out, especially when I had already committed to families who were depending on me. That pressure to still show up and find reliable coverage was tough.
Through it all, I leaned on my faith. I trusted God every step of the way, and even during uncertain times, I was always provided for. Those experiences pushed me to think bigger and diversify, which led me to start a second business in cleaning.
Looking back, the challenges weren’t easy, but they helped shape my resilience, my business mindset, and my ability to keep going no matter what.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Blush & Bloom Nanny Co?
Blush & Bloom Nanny Co. LLC is a childcare service built on trust, reliability, and genuine care. We provide nanny and babysitting services for families who want more than just supervision—we create a safe, nurturing environment where children feel supported and can grow.
What sets us apart is our intentional approach to care. With my background as a Registered Behavior Technician, I bring experience in working with children with autism, behavioral needs, and trauma. We specialize in dependable, quality care. Families know they can rely on us to show up, be present, and treat their children like our own.
What I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built. Much of our growth has come from word of mouth, which shows the impact we’ve made in the families we serve.

Whether it’s supporting a family, helping a child feel safe and cared for, or simply showing up when someone needs it most, I find fulfillment in being of service to others. Sharing my passion in a way that genuinely supports people gives my work purpose and makes everything I do feel meaningful.
