Hi Elvis, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my landscaping business with a simple goal: to work for myself and build something that I could be proud of. In the beginning, it was just me with basic equipment taking on small lawn and landscaping jobs around the community. I focused on doing quality work and making sure customers were happy.
As time went on, word started spreading and I began getting more referrals. That allowed me to take on bigger projects like landscape design, planting, drainage work, and full yard transformations. Seeing the before-and-after results and the reactions from homeowners really motivated me to keep pushing the business forward.
Today, my company, Villalobos Lawn & Landscaping, works with homeowners to improve and redesign their outdoor spaces. We focus on quality, reliability, and creating landscapes that look great but also work well for the Texas climate. I’m proud of how far the business has come, and my goal is to keep growing the company and building a strong team that serves the community.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. When I first started pursuing lawn and landscaping, I was still very early in the process of building everything. Around that time, my dad became really sick, and I had to pause many of my plans to focus on my family. It was a difficult period because I needed to shift toward something more secure and stable while I helped support my family and navigated that situation.
Even though it slowed things down for a while, that experience gave me a lot of perspective and motivation. It reminded me why I wanted to build something of my own in the first place. Once things stabilized, I came back with even more determination to grow my lawn and landscaping work and turn it into something meaningful and long-term.

My business focuses on providing reliable, high-quality lawn care and landscaping services for homeowners who want their outdoor spaces to look clean, well maintained, and welcoming. We offer services such as routine lawn maintenance, landscaping improvements, flower bed design, seasonal cleanups, and general yard transformations.

How do you think about luck?
I think luck plays a role in everyone’s journey, both good and bad. There were moments in my life that felt like bad luck, especially when my dad got very sick and I had to pause many of my plans while I was just starting out. It was a difficult time and forced me to focus on stability and supporting my family.
At the same time, I believe those experiences shaped me in a positive way. They taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of working hard for what you want. I’ve also been fortunate to meet supportive clients and people along the way who believed in my work. In the end, I think success is a mix of timing, opportunity, and putting in the effort to keep moving forward.
