Hello Got Drip, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
What’s Up, Drippers & Drippettes!!! It’s ya girl Breezy and ya boy T. Will!! We started this brand in 2019, at a time when we didn’t know what to do until we read Rich Dad Poor Dad. That book helped change our mind from an employee to an entrepreneur. We knew we wanted to design T-shirts with quotes but never thought it would’ve turned into this Dope brand we have today! Being inspired by the hit song “Drip 4 Sale” was the turning point. We looked at each other and said, “I GOT IT! DO YOU?” now I know you saying, “Got What?” GOT DRIP! Dope. Real. Intellectual. People. To be exact, that’s the acronym for Drip. How we got to where we are today is by creating pop culture designs for generations to express themselves through our pieces of art. We study from brands that have been around for years and realized that staying consistent and pivoting with the market creates longevity.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. We would be doing a disservice to our community if we weren’t being authentic. One of the main struggles we’ve dealt with being a clothing brand is making sure our products and accessories are exactly how we envisioned. When we take our time to design and create pieces for a drop, we expect our team to deliver. As a business owner, there are always problems that need to be resolved, and in order to be an entrepreneur, you must have the ability to solve problems.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We believe our future Drippers and Drippettes should know that we don’t just drop pieces of clothing; our mission is to connect, inspire, and influence others to be Dope. Real. Intellectual. People. and why you should always surround yourself with them. We also believe that our community should know that we don’t produce any of our products or accessories, the reason being it helps us focus on other aspects of the business. We receive lots of feedback regarding old products that we no longer have in stock, and most people who meet us don’t know that we honestly don’t release the same items twice because that helps keep the design unique and exclusive. What we specialize in is bringing original designs in a very creative and authentic way so that you can express yourself through our fashionable pieces. What sets Got Drip apart from others is we follow our own lane; it’s easy to fit in, but it’s hard to stand out. That’s what we do; we bring something different to this clothing game. We are most proud brand-wise, at the fact that we are still going and growing along the way. What we want readers to know is that we want to offer them a welcoming hand to our community come drip out with the fam! We love for new people to follow and join our growing community of Drippers and Drippettes.
We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
The reason we believe we’re risk-takers is because when most people wouldn’t have even started, we did!! We made up in our mind this was something we needed to do and did it without the proper knowledge, resources, and know-how. We continued to take risk in sacrificing our money and time, not even knowing what the outcome would be. We took a risk when we had our first pop-up shop in our neighborhood selling our shirts. People would tell us the police would give us a ticket, or we would hold up traffic, etc. I mean, we heard it all!!! However, we still did it and met a lot of community members that we still keep in contact with today. We encourage people to do what we do and take smart risks; never be afraid to bet on yourself!
