Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaclyn Cornelius.
Jaclyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Legend Athletic Massage was built out of survival, passion, pain, and purpose.
I’ve always loved bodybuilding and strength culture, but I also know what it feels like to struggle physically in your own body. I’ve battled significant weight fluctuations, hormonal issues, exhaustion, stress, and the wear-and-tear that comes from carrying everything for everyone else for years. Recovery became personal to me long before it became a business.
At the same time, I was single-handedly raising two incredible boys with autism, dyslexia, and ADHD while caring for my father through Alzheimer’s, all while recovering from multiple spinal surgeries that ultimately resulted in a lumbar fusion followed by two years of recovery. There were seasons of my life where I felt emotionally, physically, and financially overwhelmed, but I kept moving forward anyway. I didn’t have investors or a roadmap. I had pressure, responsibility, intuition, and an obsession with becoming great at what I do.
What started as massage therapy slowly became something much deeper. I became known for intense, effective deep tissue work that athletes said they couldn’t find anywhere else because I developed my own treatment style and structured each session around the individual athlete in front of me.
One of the first people to truly believe in me was Daymond Patterson at TRPT, a performance training facility in Forney. After his first session, he told me he had never experienced bodywork like that before — even as a collegiate athlete. He began connecting me with professional football players willing to trust me with complimentary sessions on camera so I could build credibility through results instead of hype.
That changed everything.
Denver Broncos wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey told me, “A lot of therapists don’t get deep enough, but you were just slicing through there.” Hearing elite athletes validate the exact thing I had worked so hard to master gave me confidence that I truly belonged in this space.
After relocating to Allen, I had to put everything on pause and focus on survival while rebuilding my clientele from the ground up. I worked overtime at a franchise for months while learning the area and trying to create stability for my family.
Then came Metroflex.
At the end of April, I worked on my friend Big Chris, a bodybuilder out of Metroflex Arlington who struggles with lumbar issues. That same night, I went home and made a bucket list of athletes who had shaped my world as a lifelong sports fanatic — people I would one day love the opportunity to work with. The very next day, Big Chris had the owner of Metroflex invite me out to work on him.
Working on Brian Dobson, owner of the original Metroflex Gym, became a major turning point in my career. After his session, he said, “I feel like I’m 50 again. I’m convinced. We’re going to put her on our team.” For someone who grew up admiring bodybuilding culture, that moment meant everything to me.
Just a few days after writing that bucket list, I organically met Ronnie Coleman at the gym while working on Bull Doherty, a 7-time Olympia powerlifting champion. Within a week, I was trusted to work on Ronnie himself. As someone who grew up idolizing legends in strength sports, the speed at which everything happened felt surreal. What Ronnie never knew was that the number one spot on my bucket list already had his name on it.
Since then, I’ve found more than opportunity through Metroflex — I’ve found family. The bodybuilding community embraced me in a way I never expected. Just days later, Ron Hollup, owner of Metroflex Plano, reached out and offered me the opportunity to have my own space inside his gym.
Through those connections, I began working with incredible athletes like IFBB Pro Desunka Dawson, who not only believed in my recovery work, but encouraged me to turn my company shirt designs into a full apparel brand. She told me the designs were too strong to stay just merchandise and eventually invited me to Olympia — not only as her massage therapist and apparel partner, but as her manager. That experience completely changed how I saw my future.
Now my vision has expanded far beyond massage therapy alone. I’m building Legend into a full performance and recovery brand rooted in strength, resilience, discipline, and legacy.
One of the greatest honors of my career has been working with Ronnie Coleman and seeing the progress we’re making together. To be trusted by an 8-time Mr. Olympia — someone who represents the absolute pinnacle of bodybuilding — is something I never take lightly. We also share similar experiences with surgeries and a background in lifting heavy, which gives me a deeper understanding of both his body and the mental toughness required to keep fighting through pain.
Everything I’m building came from struggle, sacrifice, faith, and refusing to quit. My mission is bigger than recovery now. I want people to understand that strength is not just physical. Sometimes strength is surviving long enough to finally become who you were meant to be.
In the span of one month, my entire life changed course.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges in my journey has been learning how to keep moving forward while carrying so much responsibility at once.
I was raising two boys with autism, dyslexia, and ADHD while also caring for my father through Alzheimer’s, all during my own recovery from multiple spinal surgeries and a lumbar fusion that required two years of healing. At times, I felt physically broken, emotionally exhausted, and financially overwhelmed.
Relocating to Allen meant starting over completely. I had no established clientele in the area, so I worked 6–7 days a week at a franchise just trying to survive while slowly rebuilding the vision for my own business from the ground up. There were moments where I questioned whether I could continue carrying everything, but quitting was never an option for me. I didn’t have a safety net or anyone to fall back on — just faith, determination, and the responsibility to keep going no matter how hard things became.
Breaking into the bodybuilding and professional sports world also came with its own challenges. This industry is built on trust and results, and as a woman entering a male-dominated space, I knew I had to earn my place through consistency, skill, and outcomes. Every opportunity I’ve received has come from proving myself through my work.
At the same time, many of the struggles I faced became the reason I connect so deeply with athletes and people living with pain. Because I’ve personally lived through physical recovery, I understand the frustration, discipline, and mental toughness it takes to keep fighting when your body hurts.
My own injuries also shaped my practice by giving me an understanding of the body that goes far beyond what the average massage therapist experiences or studies. It took years of research, trial and error, and firsthand experience to develop the treatment style and level of body awareness I have today.
Those challenges didn’t break me — they shaped me. They taught me resilience, adaptability, faith, and the importance of building something meaningful not only for myself, but for my children and the people who trust me with their recovery.
I understand that professional athletes are trusting me with more than just their bodies — they’re trusting me with their careers, livelihoods, passions, and lifestyles. That level of trust is something I never take lightly, and I’m deeply grateful for it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Legend Athletic Massage
Legend Athletic Massage is my recovery and bodywork practice specializing in deep tissue, sports massage, mobility work, myofascial release, and performance recovery for athletes and high-performing individuals. My approach is built around a treatment style I developed through years of firsthand recovery experience, research, and working directly with athletes in pain. I call it The Cornelius Method. The goal is not just temporary relief, but helping clients move better, recover faster, and extend longevity in both sports and everyday life.

Legend Athletics Performance
Legend Athletics Performance is the expansion of my vision beyond massage therapy into apparel, performance culture, and athlete identity. What began as custom shirt designs for my massage business and athletes within my personal life quickly grew into something much bigger after encouragement from people in the bodybuilding industry.
The brand was originally inspired by the intersection of strength, fashion, individuality, and gym culture — creating pieces that felt bold, motivating, and authentic to the athlete lifestyle. Over time, those designs began resonating with more people than I ever expected.
Today, the brand is rooted in strength, resilience, discipline, recovery, and the mentality required to overcome adversity both physically and mentally. We recently soft-launched our first exclusive design at the Ronnie Coleman Classic by outfitting our team in custom pieces I designed, and the response from fellow athletes and bodybuilders exceeded anything I expected, generating immediate interest and orders.
There are plans to expand the brand beyond apparel into performance accessories and training essentials such as custom wraps, lifting gear, towels, foam rollers, and other athlete-focused products designed to reflect both function and identity within strength culture.

Legend Athletics Management
Legend Athletics Management was created to support athletes beyond recovery alone by helping them build their brands, navigate opportunities, and expand their careers. Through relationships built in bodybuilding and strength sports, I realized many athletes need trusted people in their corner who genuinely care about both their success and well-being. My goal is to help athletes connect recovery, branding, business, and long-term career growth under one vision.
I
What are your plans for the future?
My future plans extend far beyond building a successful massage practice. My vision is to grow Legend into a nationally recognized performance, recovery, apparel, and athlete management brand rooted in strength, discipline, resilience, and longevity.
I plan to continue expanding Legend Athletic Massage through specialized recovery work for athletes, bodybuilders, and high-performing individuals while further developing The Cornelius Method into a recognized treatment approach within the sports recovery industry.
Through Legend Athletics Performance, I plan to continue building a brand that authentically represents bodybuilding culture, strength sports, and the mindset required to overcome adversity both physically and mentally. What began with custom apparel has already expanded into performance accessories and athlete-focused products such as wraps, lifting gear, towels, foam rollers, and other training essentials designed to combine both function and identity within strength culture.
Through Legend Athletics Management, I hope to help athletes build sustainable careers by connecting recovery, branding, business opportunities, and long-term growth under one unified vision. I want to create an environment where athletes feel genuinely supported both professionally and personally.
Long-term, my vision for Legend continues to expand. Future concepts include:
* Legend Iron — a strength and bodybuilding-focused gym environment
* Legend Recovery — advanced recovery and wellness services for athletes and active individuals
* Legend Nutrition — performance-focused meal prep and eventually a food truck concept centered around convenient, athlete-minded nutrition
* Legend Labs — supplements and performance products designed to support recovery, strength, and overall wellness
My goal is to create an ecosystem where recovery, performance, nutrition, strength culture, and athlete development all work together under one unified vision.
Ultimately, I want Legend to become more than a business. I want it to become a movement centered around resilience, transformation, discipline, and self-belief. Most importantly, I want my children to see that even through adversity, it’s possible to build something meaningful that leaves a lasting impact on others.
