Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine DeBerry.
Hi Jasmine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Well hello! I’m Jasmine DeBerry. A small town girl originally from Jackson, TN. I made the move to Texas in 2022 and my “full time” job is a flight attendant! Although it is a dream career of mine and something I truly love, it is a career that can drain you mentally which is a reason why I guess you could say Feels So Jazzy was birthed.
To my core, I am a creative girl. The kind that loves the funky colors and patterns together in my clothes and home decor. I’d say I have an eye to find the beauty in all things. Being creative AND cozy are two things I live by day to day. As stated before some days, my “normal” job can take a lot from me and Feels So Jazzy was a hobby that I started to ease my mind and when I realized how much comfort my handmade blankets brought me, I thought it was the perfect way to give the “world” a soft place to land.
Feels So Jazzy was created to make space for everybody. I wanted to create a brand that represented my personal life and morals — something I’m passionate about in my daily life with real life people and situations. It’s a brand dedicated to making sure that everybody knows they can take up space, everybody feels comfort and where everybody is truly seen. Essentially offering, “a blanket for every person in every room.”
As a woman who has dealt with mental health issues and has Endometriosis, this is my way of advocating for everybody’s mind and every woman’s body.
Around here, to feel so jazzy is to feel seen. In whatever way that looks like for you.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I guess my first answer to that would be “what would you consider smooth?” I’d say it has come with ups and down as life should and always will especially as a business owner.
For the most part, I’m a pretty reserved person, so I think my biggest struggle has been allowing other people to see my creative mind. For me, it’s truly bigger than blankets. It’s me putting my thoughts and skills into the world. There’s so many parts of myself that I truly believe are sacred so allowing others in on that has been a challenge but it’s also been a joy and allowed me to grow as a person in general.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Feels So Jazzy is a handmade chunky knit brand specializing in blankets but also offering chunky sweaters and cardigans in the cooler months! I offer a variety of colors and sizes as well as custom color/size options that aren’t listed on my website.
The brand is known for its boldness. Even the most neutral color palettes have their own special way of making a statement in whatever space it’s in. Each blanket is handmade by me with love and they’re all so cozy.
I believe what my brand stands for is what sets me apart. Feels So Jazzy isn’t just about the blankets. It’s about the comfort we all deserve… to be ourselves, to be free, to be seen – essentially offering a “blanket for every person in every room.”
Feels So Jazzy is a brand that lives by authenticity. To know me is to know, I show up as myself everyday and everywhere. Happy, sad, angry, whatever that looks like for me that day. I allow myself to be seen & I truly try my best to see others, even the parts that most of us want to hide. That’s what my brand encourages and to be comfortable enough to do it.
I understand that on your hardest days, you can’t wait to lay down and reset. After your best days, you’re looking for a moment to be still and soak it all in. Either way you just need a soft place to land and well, I’d say that’s where my brand comes in.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Just put yourself out there and do NOT let money be your only motive. When I was in my early twenties working for a life insurance company my late father always told me, “build the relationships — the money will come.”
There’s somebody somewhere waiting on you to do the thing! To tell your story, to sell your products, to offer your services, to just be YOU.
Let God guide you. He designed you for it, so be obedient and just do the thing.
