Today we’d like to introduce you to Lidia Davila.
Hi Lidia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I own the Restaurant next door & this spot became available & I saw a New Business Opportunity, mi daughter had recently graduated & had fallen in love with Fitness, We started with an idea of a Women’s only gym because I personally don’t like working out in front of men & I think a lot of women feel the same way, specially if they haven’t exercised in a while, we added the Pilates Studio because my niece Nathalie, who had stated her Pilates Era suggested it, so we inquired about it & added it to the plan. Being a restaurant owner, I know business, but this is a totally new business concept, we’ve had to learn as we go, I feel that we are creating a beautiful community for women to feel safe at the same time they are learning to put themselves first & they are loving this concept, we have grown a lot since we opened . We also keep bringing in new ideas to get more women to notice Me Amo Mas Fitness & want to become part of this beautiful project.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it hasn’t been that easy, even though I was already a business owner, this is a very different type of business, which I love, but had to learn the different aspects, such as busy times, scheduling & what works better & incorporate things that work & take out what doesn’t, also, we are an exclusive gym that somehow is competing with very big names, but we believe in what we offer here & I see the great potential we have because we have been getting very positive response from our clients.
As you know, we’re big fans of Me Amo Mas Fitness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a Women’s only gym & Studio. We offer a full gym facility, boot camps, showers, sauna, personal training packages & Hot Mat Pilates & Gym merchandise, as well. We also have a makeup room for girls to get ready to go out after the workout if needed. Hot Mat Pilates is our most popular activity.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I come from a very united middle income family who immigrated here from Mexico at a young age, I am a very shy person, but being a business owner, I have learned to open up. Sometimes I catch myself being very ambitious, but not in a bad way, I see business opportunities & think of who I can help out, I don’t know if that’s bad, I should probably try to change that.
